This is NOT a way to get more money from LSU. Its not Les' style.
that kind of money is absurd and anyone in ark, regardless of how much bank they have, would be asinine to invest that much on a college fb coaching staff that didn't include a list of nfl all star coaches. i can't imagine the brilliant business people you are listing would do something that wasteful.

That deal lacks any common sense and screams bullshite.
If they were to do that, why not throw the bank at a superior NCAA coach in Saban?

Bottomline: Alleva better make darn sure we don't have a worst coach next year than the one we have now.
Strictly looking at success, if Les leaves, we will absolutely have a worse coach than the one we have now.

Just give him some more money. That's what this is about.
Let him go. He doesn't deserve a raise right now.
I'll lose what little respect I have left for him if he uses this as leverage to get either a contract extension or a raise from LSU.

I meant potential-wise. More comparative to Miles at OSU who hadn't accomplished a ton yet.

ESPN just commented that a source close to LSU confirmed the offer.

I'd actually suggest that Miles takes a small pay cut if he wanted to stay here..
Even if he is likeable.

If I had the ability to leverage my current employer for a 50%ish raise and didn't, I would be divorced. Anyone else in this thread who says they would not leverage their employer for a raise is either an out and out liar or an idiot. I'm sure you were upset that Nick Saban went to Miami and eventually Alabama also. Nick should have stayed at LSU and insisted on 1.5m a year until he died.

Can't tell if people are still questioning the veracity of this report, but for what it's worth, I just heard it reported on ESPN.

Les isn't worth a raise at this point. He is already one of the highest paid coaches in the country.
LSU is at it's most marketable point possibly in it's history.
If Les wants to go, let him. You should at that point be able to go and get whoever the most wanted name is. We would be the marquee job by far. Saban and Miles both have shown what a mine the LSU job is. you just gotta keep the pumps going.
If you can't get the marquee name now, you aren't able to ever. If he leaves and they settle for another Les Miles level hire, they should fire the whole athletic department.
eta.
I would wholely expect a les miles type hire. Call me crazy but I have no faith in alleva.

AArkansas reportedly offers Les Miles a five-year deal worth more than $27 million to coach the Razorbacks.
The Arkansas Razorbacks have reportedly offered LSU Tigers head coach Les Miles a five-year, $27.5-million contract to leave LSU and become the head coach at Arkansas, according to the Times-Picayune. The information originally came from a tweet by Sports by Brooks; it was denied by others at the time, and the LSU sports information department declined comment when asked.
Earlier, Bruce Feldman weighed in:
Asked 2 sources abt Les Miles/Arkansas report. Both said may be something there but probably using for leverage w LSU.
— Bruce Feldman (@BFeldmanCBS) November 27, 2012
Miles completed his eighth regular season at LSU, leading the Tigers to a 10-2 record in 2012, which was capped by a 20-13 victory over the Razorbacks last weekend.
On Nov. 24 Arkansas reassigned coach John L. Smith into a consulting role until the end of his 10-month deal to serve as Bobby Petrino's interim replacement. The Razorbacks finished the 2012 season 4-8.
Les Miles currently makes just more than $3.75 million per year as base salary, according to the Times-Picayune.
Miles was previously the head coach of the Oklahoma State Cowboys before coming to LSU to replace Nick Saban in 2004. He also previously served as a position coach with the Dallas Cowboys, Michigan Wolverines, Colorado Buffaloes and at Oklahoma State.

If Les bolts for ar-Kansas, I'd look hard at Art Briles from Baylor. He did good things at both UH and Baylor, neither being much of a football school.

You are certainly sure of yourself. I think many disagree. Poor coaching lost both games this year. We can find better.
