It’s baseball, man. You can make the wrong decision and turn out a genius and the right decision totally fails.

The "right" decision is going to fail over 50% of the time in baseball. It's just the way it is. So many people on here can't grasp that. Because a decision doesn't work out doesn't make it the wrong one.

Let me also say this: while analytics should definitely be a driving force in decision making, coaches still need to act on their hunches when they feel it.

But that's thing, you can support letting Beloso swing both analytically and as just a gut-feeling.

There was nothing wrong with the decision. Just didn't pan out.

Agreed. Analytics probably don't say to sac bunt Cranford (they damn sure don't say to do it with 2 strikes), but it's the right move. With somebody else at the plate, you don't sac bunt for sure.

Paul got embarrassed when he took the squeeze off for Gio. Texas crashed the 1B so hard that he took it off resulting in an easy K.

You have a better point if Cabrera swings it right handed.

Nah, the idea is to get a walk to load the bases for Cabrera, or take a strike & still be in a hitters count.

You simply don’t want to make the 3rd out in the manner they did

You know analytics has pretty much proven that there isn't much difference between a 3-1 and a 3-0 pitch.

Right, So it makes sense to take the pitch

what's the point of a taking a get-me-over fastball

Wasn’t a get me over fast ball. It was a 90mph fastball with run lol. Not an easy pitch to hit esp As a LH hitter

Spoiled fans that don't really grasp how the college game works and how challenging it is to maintain an elite program each and every year like Paul has done is always just taken from granted. As if because it's LSU were just supposed to make the CWS and not just make it but win it as well each year...

To watch some people talk about what they think are some kind of revolutionary ideas that are just amazingly delusional and stupid in the end when speaking about this program is going to be the death of me.

Gotta love a pumpers mentality: if we lose the game doesn’t count but if we win it’s equivalent to a national title game every single time lol.

And you're just the opposite. Lose your mind over a midweek loss, but refuse to credit a solid weekend win.

I hope he has an exit strategy in place for this year, regardless of the outcome. Wouldn’t want him back, win or lose. His dugout performance is most infuriating.

When people say they don't like some of his decisions, that's something to debate. But what do y'all see other college baseball coaches doing in their dugout different than what Paul Mainieri does?

He had a pretty solid night besides batting 4 lefties in a row & green lighting Beloso 3-0

I liked the green light on Beloso, but I cannot understand the four lefties in a row. And boy, did that work out perfectly for Texas!
