So that one handed catch was totally not a catch, right?

the broadcast rushed through and didn't show the completed catch, but there's no way that ball didn't hit the ground.

probably not a catch but wasn't 100% clear from replays

His hand was under it. It's time to stop complaining about calls as if it somehow changes the fact that we were outcoached and outplayed.

Herbie was too busy cleaning the jizz off his face to worry about slowing down the replay enough but it did indeed appear that the ball hit the ground.

IDK but there was a play where our pass rusher literally got tackled that was a no call.

I thought it was fairly obvious the ball was rolling around on the ground.

I don’t think he caught it and I think there was a clear shot of him trapping it

Oh well

This. I never saw an angle that showed it clearly touching the ground, but then it went to commercial so I have no idea what they got to review. Props to that receiver #10 tho, he made two incredible plays. He also one-handed the game-ender while getting popped pretty good.

1. The ball can hit the ground if the WR had controlled it prior and the ground does not cause him to lose control.

2. The play was ruled a catch on the field. There has to be indisputable evidence to overturn it. There wasn't.

it wasnt controlled prior, it was clearly floating around the air prior to going to the ground.

Did you see how close our defender was to that ball. Damn close. Awesome catch.

If it was an LSU receiver, ABC would have pulled out the infared xray camera showing the ball hit the ground and that the review should be an easy overturn.

It was one of those plays where the call stands, not confirmed. Wasn’t enough evidence to overrule call on field. If it had been called incomplete on field, it would have stood on the review as well.

That was and still is my complaint about the officiating on that play. The Olineman had our rusher around the neck and pulling on the back of his jersey.

Definitely offensive holding.

His hand was under the ball pinning it into his stomach. It doesn't matter if the ball touches the ground at that point as long as it doesn't move. Of all the things to bitch about, this call might be the silliest.

Exactly.

He had his hand under the ball and there wasn't an angle that unequivocally showed it wasn't a catch. If it's rule incomplete on the field they don't overturn it.

Another question is was the targeting call on Gilbert correct? When you see the play at full speed it seems like text book targeting. But I’m not sure Gilbert ever hit the WR’s helmet, and it looks like a pretty good tackle considering the circumstances.

What else was Gilbert supposed to do in that moment? He could’ve gone lower, I suppose, buy maybe he didn’t think he had to. By the time he hit him, it was a good candidate for targeting. To me, it simply seemed like a good attempt at getting the ball loose.

Some people might say it was one of the better efforts he gave that night. And unfortunately it turned into a big penalty

Good chance it wasn't, but they never showed a replay that was enough to overturn.

The real issue with that play was the horrendous no call on the holding.

There were two angles that showed clear as day that he lost control of the ball as he was bringing it in. It went down between his elbows, hit the ground, bounced into his gut and then he grabbed it back.

It DEFINITELY hit the ground. It was an amazing effort, but it should not have been ruled a catch.
