[Did you miss last year or something?? 54-12, SEC Champions, Regional Champs, Super Regional Champs, CWS Appearance.....that's mediocrity?]
It was a good year, but I like championships. Regional, super regional, who cares. If we were that good why didn't we ein it all?. The say things are going we may never win another. I guess Bertman spoiled me, like the Gump fans with football. Maybe I should be satisfied that we have our best.

My autism definitely puts me at #1 in the off the top of your head LSU baseball history rankings.

Forgot about him, he'd be up there. I just made that off the top of my head real quick.

Don't just look at instate schools and why PM let some of these players go check out what Austin Edens has done for the past 2 seasons at Samford from right here in Baton Rouge St. Michael:
2016
33 Austin Edens BA:.327 GS:24-24 AB:101 R:19 H:33 2B:6 3B:0 HR:7 RBI:24
2015
BA:.357 GS:55-54 AB:213 R:48 H:76 2B: 17 3B:0 HR:16 RBI:54
Like LSU couldn't use a hitter like him in their lineup.

Even if it is a 'rebuilding' year, shouldn't LSU baseball be better than most teams we play?
Yes, even a young LSU team should still take care of some of the opponents we have lost to. We should still beat Tulane, even if Tulane is good.

Don't be too sure of that. History has shown that, if we are at all on the bubble at selection time, we rarely get the benefit of the doubt.

Skip retired after the 2001 season, in which we lost in a super regional at Tulane. In 2000, we won the national championship.

you have a selective memory.
Says the person who thinks Skip coached the 2002 season?

Skip were able to still be coaching, we would not be in this shape. He never had rebuilding years. They were highly competitive every year.
Skip was a great builder of the LSU baseball program but your statements above prove you have a selective memory.
In his last two years as HC Skip lost FIVE games to Tulane and didn't go to Omaha either year. In his last season as HC LSU was swept by Rice in the super regional and didn't even score a run in either game getting shut out 6-0 and 3-0. That was the same season ULL also shut us out 5-0 in our own regional and we had to come back out of the loser's bracket to win the regional. ULL also shut us out 7-0 in the regular season that year.
It seems that you are the one with the selective memory. After 1988, no Skip team ever missed the NCAA tournament. Mainieri has already missed the tournament more times than Skip did despite fewer seasons as coach, and will likely add to his total this year.
Obviously, there will only ever be one Skip and no one should ever expect another coach to perform at his level, but the suggestion that there is ANY comparison between Mainieri and Skip is just ridiculous.

Why because you are LSU?
Go back and look at the records during the Joe Brockhoff era and Rick Jones years up to around 2005; you lost just as often as you won. After Katrina Tulane couldn't recruit much talent but David Pierce seems to be turning that around and has the team playing more relaxed.

Not sure where LSU will fit in all the recruits coming in, I don't see many getting drafted off this team. Might be a lot of cuts coming.

Offensively, we won't be able to keep up with Auburn this weekend, they are swinging bats really well, will be lucky to get one.

A&M was the best hitting team in the SEC and the 4th best in the country going into last weekend. LSU has the pitching to give the them a chance. I am way more concerned about LSU scoring runs than LSU giving up runs.

Auburn can hit as well as if not better than tamu. Their pitchers are high school quality.
