Nick Saban went 8-5 his 3rd year at LSU in 2002. And that was a much easier time to consistently win in CFB and in a 12-team SEC.

Patience is a virtue.

And I don’t care what the human rankings say. Even at 8-4, LSU is one of the Top20 teams this year, and would be favored on a neutral field over all but about 10-15 teams in the Top25.

That said, the goal is Top10, and more specifically Top5. We’re on our way there… the foundation is in place.

He says he’s building a team but with NIL and the transfer portal is that really a thing anymore?

For me it’s more about the here and now these days. Old days of building a team is gone. It’s why Saban retired.

They lost to every team with a pulse and their best win is Vandy or Oklahoma. Or maybe BC who is 4-4 in the shitty ACC.
Are you talking about LSU or Missouri? Sounds very similar.

Well we beat #13 and #14. So I would think both of those teams have a pulse.

Under Kelly LSU isn't even the top team in Louisiana.

LINK

Look at Tulane's strength of schedule (88/134) then look at Loo-wee-zee-anna's strength of schedule (130/134). LSU (7/134) would beat both of them badly in head-to-head. Some of you people find too many things to get upset about. Order will be restored.

The committee only does a top 25? They don't even have an "others receiving votes category". Tulane has more others receiving in the AP Poll but LSU has more than ULL in the AP Poll.

But you said playoff standings? What the hell are you talking about?

Apart from one play (eta: either by USCe v Bama or USCw v LSU), Bama is in no better shape than LSU and yet media wanking it over their playoff hopes and coach of the year.

9-3 in the American is not on par with 8-4 in the SEC. Tulane got dominated by Oklahoma. Did you catch LSU's game this past Saturday?

#3 in Louisiana. Is that a reality? Would UL and/or Tulane be favored over LSU, or ANY SEC team on a neutral field?

This season will be the easiest schedule that Kelly ever gets at LSU.

Throw in that he can't beat a dead horse on the road which is scary for the future

Just because he didn't use the portal heavily like Ole Miss doesn't mean he underperformed. Also, He had a highly rated portal class when he was first hired.

The idea that we are having this discussion is troubling.

He needs to put up and shut up. Imagine the howling around here if he goes 8-4 or worse next year.

It's only troubling that adults in Louisiana can be that ignorant.

Bruh, we're fine. He predicts we will be in the National Championship game next year. What more could we ask?

It’s not a real discussion. It’s a Rant wet dream. Tulame got run out of their own stadium by a Memphis team that hadn’t had a major road win since Silverfield took over there. They wouldn’t be favored on a neutral field because we handily beat a common opponent that they lost to.

Definitely annoys me when someone like you lives and dies by subjective rankings...NOT objective rankings whatsoever. You must really get upset on a coin flip when it comes up tails instead of heads because that is EXACTLY what rankings are. After several teams at the very top of the rankings, it is totally flipping a coin. Oh, and BTW, SMU is ranked way ahead of LSU and in the playoffs as of now. My brother watches all the SMU games, is familliar with the players, etc. I asked him who would win between LSU and SMU...he said LSU as long as they got a decent pass rush.

Bottom line: I wish you a lot of sleepless nights worrying about the rankings. Most people don't even remember the loser in NC games 2 years later. But hey, keep in mind that LSU finished 23rd or whatever instead of 18th or 14th. You are a JOKE of a football fan!

Take a look at our current roster. It’s miserable. As it currently stands we will start next season unranked.
