I guess it's settled now that even Paul Finebaum said it's the best team ever.

"It's 5:30 AM in New Orleans and one thing seems clear: this LSU team isn't one of the best in history. It is the best! Case closed."

Marcus Spears just said it’s 2001 Miami. Even if he believes that, what a traitorous piece of shite to say it on live TV the day after this game

It's okay if everyone doesn't suck us off today.

It's been nothing but LSU=GOAT all night/morning on ESPN.

I think people will say that 01 Miami team was, going back to this BS saying, "more complete", because of their defense. However, I don't think they are. Without looking it up, I doubt Miami's schedule that year comes close to LSU's this year.

Well said, but you know, rantards will have to find something to complain about and melt.

Spears is a huge LSU fan and said this team should certainly be considered among best ever. He's a sports personality and can't come across as too much a homer but if you think he's a traitorous POS, you need to step back.

This board just becomes a self-destructive fan base...insufferable...you can't tolerate being on top. GTFO here.

2001 Miami

Had A LOT of talent, particularly talent that would show out in the NFL.

However, on a neutral field, everything else the way it is - 2001 Miami couldn't stay on the field with 2019 LSU - 56-28.

I'm 100% serious.

They were #1 or #2 all year - at the time of the games, they beat ranked teams:

#13 FSU, 49-27
#15 Syracuse, 59-0
#11 Washington, 65-7
#14 Va Tech, 26-24
#4 Nebraska, 37-14 (Rose Bowl)

Only FSU, Va Tech or Nebraska were competitive at any point. None of those teams, or 2001 Miami, could have beaten 2019 Bama, LSU or, frankly, Clemson or tOSU, IMHO.

The speed of the game is different, offenses are different, more complex and the teams I listed are built to score more quickly than NFL teams did in the early 2000s, even.

pretty sure Marcus stated 2001 MIA is the greatest TEAM based on their overall talent and players who were selected in the 1st rd of the NFL (11). 2019 LSU had the greatest SEASON in CFB history based on this teams awards and accomplishments.

That Miami roster was loaded.

LINK

He was probably saying 2001 Miami because Vilma played on that team.

I’m pretty sure that I saw from the nosebleeds that this “traitor” ran in a pick six vs OU.....not U.

“Best team” does not equal “most talented”

Coaching, scheme, QB all are a big factor.

for starters, Burrow >>>>>>>>> Ken Dorsey

The 2001 Hurricanes were loaded. They are hands down the most talented team I have ever seen. But LSU just had the best total team season in college football history. The schedule, the record breaking stats, the awards, the trophies, etc. It's not even close.

But just the fact that this is a legitimate debate is unreal. Lmao a LSU team is being compared to '95 Nebraska and '01 Miami. Going into this season most of us were just hoping they could beat bama.

The Miami love is mostly because of how many successful NFL players were on that team. We definitely had the better season, and if our players pan out in the NFL like I'm sure they will the memory of this team will age like fine wine.

I know different eras and all and that Miami team was loaded with NFL talent, but I'm not scared of a team quarterbacked by Ken Dorsey and his under 60% completion percentage.
