So is 3 weeks enough to clean up the defensive issues?

I've only caught a few comments from Coach O about practices, but I have not really heard anything indicating the D is starting to fix their problems.

I heard our punter was playing QB in practice and torching the D

Did we happen to get any new safeties in the last few weeks? If not, then no.

Considering the previous 5 weeks weren’t, I’m not hopeful

I realize that is likely true, but I can’t help but laugh.

It's clearly not

It's a player issue at this point.

I'd rather have freshman giving 100% making mistakes than veterans giving 50% making mistakes.

Webb
Bj
Toles
Sampa
White
Roy
Guillory
Taylor

Should all be getting snaps or starting.

Yeah I know, but I hope that was part of O trying to light a fire under the D. If they can at least get their assignments down it will at least slow the bleeding.

It's hard to grasp how bad the D has been and we still have our toughest offenses to play waiting on the schedule.

Against Ark, maybe! Their offense is BAD.

But the Defense isn't going to flip a switch and get better!

It's gonna get a lot worse.

Guillory has been hurt and Toles has played and got torched, but no less than Stevens and Harris. I agree though. I'd rather have the new guys out there putting out the effort than what we've seen so far.

No, we need talent, we need coaching, we need a lot of stuff we dont have. Pray we score 40 or more to win.

Zero confidence this defense will come around this year. I hope and pray they prove me wrong! Please prove me wrong!

Probably not

I wonder how much better we would be if we didn't lose guys we were counting on like Vincent, Shelvin and Brooks. Shelvin made the rest of the DL better, Vincent gave us a true slot CB and would likely cover up some of the safety weaknesses and Brooks showed flashes of being a solid starter and impact player. All 3 would have been starters and losing them along with those that went to the draft really gutted the defense.

Maybe it wouldn't matter and Pelini still wouldn't be able to pull it together, but I think we at least pull out ugly wins vs MSU and Mizzou with them on roster. We still get smoked by Auburn.

Sadly, no three weeks is not enough.

Between 3 weeks of nothing but practice and 2 weeks to prepare for what will now be a depleted arkansas, this game will be VERY telling of where our coaching is

It's gotten a bit better lately. Was pretty awful at the beginning of the season, but we scored 35 against Florida and 31 against A&M.

Still have spurts where we move the ball with ease and look creative as hell, then times when we look like we've never played football before. Briles is a good playcaller overall but he has his WTF playcalls like WR passes and reverses that haven't worked all year and gets too cute. For instance we scored all 24 of our points against Tennessee in one quarter and looked dominant, then didn't score a single point the rest of the game

In both of those matchups, Ark scored 14pts in the 4th as the game was already decided.
