I get it. But, Jay got the best of what was left. How it ended becoming a top portal class I’m not sure. Poor evaluations on all sides. When the portal opens during the CWS there’s only so much Jay and the staff can do recruiting wise when they’re working towards a NC.
Maybe an early jump this year leads to another Skenes, Tanks, etc.

The team we are playing did EXACTLY that. They had a returning core from an Omaha runner up team and had a season exactly like this. It can be done. It will take hitting in the portal, the young players staying and taking steps and 2 or 3 freshmen stepping into roles.

Likely to not be much better next year. This team is losing all its decent players after this year. We’ll see what kind of coach Jay is if he can turn this around next year but I’m having trouble thinking he can do it. The talent will not be there.

It’s ridiculous. Teams in Omaha can’t even do final evaluations, have an idea of what JUCO and high school recruits are gonna make it to campus, figure out who wants to head to the draft or transfer out, who is gonna be told it may be in their best interests to leave, or any of that to even know what the needs are.
