Agree here, it’s more he hasn’t had a good enough teams to win consistently against really tough opponents. Granted that’s on him with recruiting and devolvement but if he gets a 2011 or 19 roster he’s winning some games.

As far as my feel about it, it’s a WIP.

But damn there’s a lot of boxes that are checked, and checked well, esp at some critical spots. There’s a lot to be hopeful about.

I’m not that optimistic. I don’t trust Brian Kelly at this point to build the team chemistry that is needed to win an NC. He does not have the it factor or ability to motivate in my opinion. You need more than just talented players and especially a bunch of new ones that will not have played together before this season. I sincerely hope he proves me very wrong.

Well, we do have elite pitching, so...

Wait, football?

Who's saying we win it all? I thought most people had us losing to Clemson in the opener, and then scratching to maybe get into the playoffs

2023 was the closest thing to a championship team BK will ever get IMO.

If the offensive line can perform cohesively as a unit, the sky is the limit. 2 big time transfers there, along with guys like Davis, Chester, and Adams.
Graduated 4 OL's and only brought in 2 from the Portal.

All of the returning projected OL starters are inexperienced hot garbage and that don't cut it in the SEC baby!

Thompson and Moore are gonna have to be the OL saviors or it's gonna be a shite show. That's the reality of the situation, not being negative........

We’ll need about a dozen 50/50 calls/situations to fall our way.

We also need Nuss to be able to scramble out of situations and slide. Without that, there is zero chance.

All this is what makes it fun.

I agree this is the year if any for LSU. Easily the best team since 2019 so we're ready to see results. They pretty much addressed every hole on the team in the portal and mostly, cleaned it out with some of the top players.

On the OL, this is the X factor here. This team will only go as far as this OL will go. They seem to be pretty confident in guys like Chester who had his struggles at C last year. I think him moving to G will do him good.

What is any of this based on?

well number one- his teams performance on the field. They often don’t seem motivated, especially in season openers but also in some notable mid season games where they often lay an egg.. But also his overall persona- he just doesn’t strike me as someone who can do much inspiring and motivating - not a camaraderie builder. But that is just my amateur impression.

Im afraid the small O line and an immobile QB prone to making mistakes when pressured will not go well. Hope Im wrong.......

Why don’t we wait until everyone plays some games first? Maybe wait until the first weekend of November?

who cares what others are saying.

I know that we are capable, but it is going to require the bats to come alive, and also a pitcher or two to step up at some point. I think we will get to Omaha, but there the bats will have to wake up.

I agree with everything you said except this.

This is a program that hasn't won a season opener in 5 years and this year's opener may be the toughest of all given the opponent and it being a true road game.

Alabama and Ole Miss are on the road. Both may (probably will) take a bit of a step back from last season, but those still aren't easy road games. Then LSU finishes the season at Oklahoma. OU wasn't very good last year, but we saw even that average team step up at home and dominate Alabama late in the year. Somewhat similar to what an average Florida team did with Ole Miss and LSU. I'd much rather be finishing the season at home.

9-3 wasn't enough to get an SEC team into the CFP last year. IF LSU loses to Clemson they have only a 1 game margin for error (to go 10-2) in the final 11. That's tough. Particularly when you consider only one of sixteen SEC teams (Texas) had fewer than 2 conf. losses last season

I 100% agree LSU should be a championship contender. The pieces are there. But I think if anything can keep them out of the CFP it could be the schedule. LSU could go 6-2 in the SEC, which wouldn't be a terrible record, but lose to Clemson and miss out on the CFP

We have a defense that should be good. We have a veteran QB. We have receivers. We have the ability to make big plays on offense and ST. We have tools at wide out make up for possible weakness in OL. If we can run it just a little we should make the playoff. Clemson is huge.
