i think peak potential is a shorter Jameis Winston

like you said he's mobile but not really a runner. Jameis could move around but wasn't a runner or anything

JL had us undefeated up to the Bama game...threw an INT and I do not know that he ever played again.

he threw 2 Ints. technically on back to back plays for him, but Jefferson had come in after the 1st interception for a few drives.

Lee goes back in on a later drive, first play back, another pick. he played in later games, but not much.

I thought about that, but I think RP was a better runner. Jameis could move better than say, Jamarcus, who was a comparable size. but I thought RP could be more dynamic.

perriloux had more talent than JR. He may not have had that incredible arm strength but, he was more talented for sure.

Ryan and I played against each other in high school and I got to know him fairly well. No one loved RP more than RP loved himself. He was no doubt the most naturally talented player I ever saw in high school. Had he stuck around for those last two years, I seriously believe he could have been a high round pick. His work ethic and commitment to his teammates left a lot to be desired. He believed he was untouchable and it came back to bite him.

Sports Illustrated I think did a story on the fall of Perrilloux. They were talking about the 2007 championship season and had his mom quoted in the article too. After the national championship game win over Ohio State, he cried because he didn’t get to play as much as he thought he should have after playing and winning the SEC Championship Game.

That sums up what “team” meant to Perrilloux. Can’t believe there was no one in his life that could give him perspective and some common sense. He was also the only player to no show or miss the first team meeting after the championship win in January. Dude was unreal cancer

JR had the stronger and more accurate arm and was mobile enough. the gap in mobility is smaller than the gap in throwing talent (and throwing talent is more important than mobility in terms of judging a QB's talent)

Not quite, but had he kept it together, Jordan Jefferson and Jarrett Lee could have waited their turn instead of being thrown to the wolves and we would have won more championships. For several years after Perriloux, Les Miles had all the pieces in place except for one - QB.

No. He was not that good in the 1st place and was overhyped as any athlete I’ve ever seen.

his ceiling would have been pretty low bc he was being coached by les frickin miles. Les had no passing scheme to help the qb nor any ability to develop a qb so the whole RP what could he have done is a sad consideration. Les would have ruined him at best.

Miles wasn’t terrible with QBs until after that season because of Lee throwing so many pick 6s. Mikes went in a shell and wouldn’t let a QB lose a game again. He just went so far the other direction that they lost us games by not being able to do anything.

It's because Jimbo's coaching/development was gone

This is what I think happened as well. After '08, Les intentionally 'hid' our QBs. He would never again use a QB-centric offense.

As a young kid, Ryan was almost killed by a gunshot to the stomach by the boyfriend of his sister. The sister and her boyfriend arrived home, and as a young boy, Ryan hid behind a couch to scare them, as he jumped up and scared them as they walked through the door, the sister's boyfriend shot Ryan in the stomach. I think he was like 9-10 years old at the time.

He never received any counseling, and I think that may have contributed to his actions later on. I'm not trying to justify his actions, I'm just giving some perspective on what he went through as a young boy.

I've always said Perrilloux ruined Les. After he screwed us in 2008 and 2009 Les never trusted a QB again, other than Sr year Mettenberger

Les was just a shitty coach. Get over it. A good coach fixes the problem and doesn’t let one bad apple spoil the bunch.

Mickey Loomis was going to get LSU blackballed. That factored into some of the punishment.

I remember an incident with RP but I don’t know what Loomis had to do with it
