Delpit is an absolute lock to go, Chaisson is a virtual lock to go. Jefferson could feasibly come back, but I would expect him to go. Charles and Cusheburry are both within the top 10 at their positions on Mel Kiper's latest rankings. My guy tells me we get one of those guys back and lose the other. Phillips, Queen, Logan, Farell, Moss, and Stevens would all be wise to come back IMO, but the way things are these days I would imagine we lose at least one or two of those guys.

If brady is on staff the next few years then i wont be so worried though.
He is so young, but what I see is - he will have to choose from offers to go to the NFL as a QB coach, or a smaller school as the OC, or stay at LSU and take the OC reins probably in 2021, with a probable wink/wink, nudge/nudge HC opportunity here in the future - IF he keeps producing offensively.
Right now - there is no question he is the most valuable single assistant coach on the current staff, at least from an Xs and Os standpoints, although there is also no question that Aranda or Raymond would be welcome on almost any college staff. And this isn't a knock on the staff, which is one of the finest we've assembled, from a top to bottom standpoint since 2003.

I expect Shelvin, Chaisson, Jefferson, Phillips and Delpit to leave. These are nearly automatic, imo. They are all playing great, and have little to prove by returning.
Saahdiq Charles, Austin Deculus, Cushenberry, Helaire and Logan are all guys who could leave. Orgeron needs to be recruiting those guys like crazy.
Neil Ferrell and Queen are possibilities, but I think they would benefit by returning.
It was a great 2017 class!

Hell get real offers as an OC at least in college
I am not sure about a QB coach anywhere
Hes was a WR in college, and technique is still a part of the job, expecially developing NFL QBs. I am sure he could eventually do it, but i don't know if the NFL would be jumping at him for that position.
I feel like we have to bump him at least to CO-OC this season, and pay him a a decent amount to keep him in BR.

Delpit is currently living off of 2018 results.
Delpit has been dominant this year. He had a handful of missed tackles that stirred up fans, but what you're apparently not seeing is that Delpit is doing things in coverage that only a handful of safeties on the planet can do. He will be one of the top three or four safeties in the NFL almost immediatley, and I think there is a good chance that he'll be the consensus best safety in the NFL in two or three years.

Delpit will go and he should. Even though his production has slipped from last year, he's still seen as a first round lock.
Phillips doesn't play a "premium" position and he's not had the eyepopping production/plays that guys like White, or Roquan Smith put forth. He probably wouldn't be a first round pick if he left (or maybe even a second round pick). But that doesn't mean he will stick around.
Chaisson is ALL hype and potential. He hasn't been disruptive as a college player and has a long way to go as far as learning how to be a pass-rusher. Still, some team could very well look at him as the next Danielle Hunter. OLB/DE is a premium position. It may depend on what other guys are coming out as to what he decides to do.
Jefferson - I think he leaves simply because Burrow is leaving. He may never be a 1st round pick, but it could be a "sell while your stock is highest" situation. Assuming he continues to have a great season I don't think he would be able to improve his stock next season.

No, I get that - but say an NFL team wants him as an "assistant" OC, which the QB job sometimes does - or if an offensively minded HC who has a QB expert as his OC/QB coach could bring him in as "new blood".
He would be better off at LSU in his current position than any job (other than HC) at a smaller school or a sub-coordinator position anywhere (including the NFL) - because he is clearly our OC in waiting. I think the plan is for Ensminger to teach him the basics about coaching QBs and playcalling and then moving to an analyst job and handing Brady the reins (and then we can hire a dedicated QB coach).

I get that too.
I could see him getting an OC job in the NFL under an offensively minded HC in a few years.
Really i think he will be at least our Co-OC next year.

I think NFL GM's are not going to jump on a 1 year wonder. They will want to see if he can do it with another QB. M. Breenan will give him that chance. If brady does with breenan what he did with Burrow this year. He Gone to the NFL.

I mean college pays as much as the NFL. So its whatever his preference is.
The college game is also wide open play wise, you can recruit 7 first round picks to one team.

Jefferson and delpit are gone
Chaisonn should probably stay but might not.
And I would’nt be surprised if Shelvin, Charles, or Cush go. Cush will have the best rating. Charles is on his last strike, and Shelvin is finally in good shape. Gotta make the money while they can.

May as well celebrate them on Senior Day
Delpit
Jefferson
Chaisson
50/50
Phillips
Shelvin
Could go, but not likely
Jacoby
Charles
Cushenberry
Queen
Ehh
I think unless Chaisson has a great rest of the year he will be going to the draft with potential only....Delpit and Jefferson i believe are all we lose...
Shelvin and Phillips will come back if they want 2nd Round...i dont see anyone getting Shelvin until round 5 or later...he has shown glimpses of greatness and has the potential to be unstoppable but he will have to show more...Phillips i believe will need to work on his tackling and pass coverage...
Jacoby, Charles, Cush and Queen they just arent ready IMO...
Our Returning Starters next year could be even better than this past year...

For some reason I thought Shelvin was just a sophomore

Jefferson is gone. He won’t blow people away with his speed but his route running and ability to get yards after the catch is what he delivers. Very physical recover and blocks well downfield. He will get a 3rd grade at minimum.

Y'all have to realize that it's not always about the upside- "oh so and so could improve his stock if he comes back." Yea, and stock could fall if things don't break right. 2nd contracts are hard to earn in the NFL, and a number of college football players don't exactly have a ton of family money. Taking a 3rd round grade this year is appealing to a lot of guys. I know as fans it's tough for us to understand because we aren't in their shoes. But that's the truth.
Shelvin has had weight and grade problems. Chaisson has battled injuries. Charles has his mysterious suspension.

Cush and Shelvin are history!!

I don’t see how anyone who has watched Chaisson play can say he should go pro. He needs to not miss another game for any reason, period. NFL teams don’t draft injury prone players highly, and he’s missed 13 of his last 18 games due to injury.
The truth is he’s a 1/2 a sack a game guy who can’t stay on the field. He’s hasn’t been the guy you have to script a game around he was touted to be, and until he is, he shouldn’t go pro.
And look, Fwiw, he’s one of my favorites on defense. I couldn’t wait to see him take the field this year. Love his attitude, but as of now, I’d be pissed if the Saints took him before the 5th round, and even then I’d be skeptical.

Good list, but Cush might be up there at 50/50. Top Cs are hard to come by. It will be interesting to see how he grades out. Would hate to lose him.
