He resigned. Whether or not he was asked, is pointless. People keep saying he was fired and he wasn't.

Also, he was great at regular season wins, but sucked in postseason. He went 0-4 in Omaha with the 2004 and 2005 teams, which had the talent to win it all. He overworked pitchers and it showed by the end of the year. He mismanaged handling these kids throughout the year too. He did some good stuff but he was never going to win a title, or even a CWS game, ever. That is why he left. He couldn't handle the pressure.

Okay tad, however you want to phrase it.

Also, he was not great at regular season wins during the end of his tenure. 2006 was bad and 2007 was going to be worse

The spin machine for Smoke Laval the past week or so has seriously jumped the shark at this point. Mainieri sucking now does not make Smoke less than shitty.

The State Unemployment agency would disagree. He resigned. He made that choice. That said, He was FIRED at Jacksonville State or wherever he was the last couple years

Contract employees with negotiated buyouts don’t collect unemployment checks from the state, bud.

I think we figured out who used to deliver Smoke's buckets of fried chicken to the dugout during practice.

Smoke was going to be fired. The death spiral was obvious with no public confidence of reversing course.

He was given a choice resign or be fired. It wasn't because he left on his own that he put every bit of LSU stuff he owned out to the street in the trash. He was basically fired and he felt like Skip betrayed him.
