Jay said they would be testing Ack's ability to pitch this weekend. No definitive word on if he's a go.

Elevate the pitch on guys trying to bunt. Make them bunt a marginal pitch.

White has not held his own at 3rd. His fielding pct is .852. I would have him on a short leash at 3rd this weekend. If he can’t make the plays then move him to DH for the weekend.

Small ball doesn’t work when you are down 8 runs. Let’s rake!

Jay strikes me as someone who will try to limit Kentucky's small ball by scoring runs. Expect Jobert to start against righties and Jones to be in the lineup all weekend. Moving White off of 3rd hasn't even crossed his mind.

Do we see less for Joebert?
The infield is more of a concern than the outfield. They are going to bunt and hit the ball on the ground which is going to put a lot of pressure on the infield. Dugas, Thompson, and White are going to need to have a big weekend.

hoping LSU can keep the errors to 4 or less this weekend.
That seems stupid.. why not hope for 0 errors?

Part of the deal of getting White was that he wanted to play third to help his draft stock. You have to take the good with the bad.

so many questions; one answer

He said on the radio that the best way to offset small ball tactics is to get the first batter out every inning and score runs.

Yep. I expect him to instruct the hitters to hit the ball between and over the fielders a lot. He will also call the home run play a few times hopefully

I'm not sure any of those guys have ever tried to bunt a 102mph fastball up in the zone with run.

I hope he dials up a couple of those big two-out rallies. Those are demoralizing.

Several good comments in the thread. Not giving them walks and hit batters is spot on. Small ball is more than bunting. Steals, hit-and-run, batting to just get on base vs swinging for the fence. That is why not starting Joubert is something I would consider. Kentucky has been good at capitalising on mistakes. Joubert and White are biggest defensive liabilities. White is not missing any at bats. Joubert - maybe.

Jay ended up pulling out the secret playbook ordering grand slams tonight.
