Only 11 scholarships and 35 roster spots so the talent is spread out.

Good to see Skip looking healthy. Didn't realize Jacques Doucet was that tall.

Didn't Skip deal with 11.7 scholarships his entire LSU career? He's being diplomatic.

There’s a big difference between parity and getting waxed by southern and Louisiana tech but okay

“The NCAA set a roster limit at 35 players and restricted the number of players on scholarship to 27 starting with the 2009 season. Before, teams could have an unlimited amount of players on their roster and on scholarship. Bertman, for example, said there were times in which he had 40 to 45 players on the roster, and all of them were receiving some scholarship money.

There was one more change made: No scholarship player could receive less than 25 percent of a full scholarship, a stunning tweak that sent coaches scrambling.

Not only were coaches now banned from having more than 35 players on their roster. They could no longer offer players a 1, 2, or 5 percent scholarship, something done often to woo a player to college.”

Why does the NCAA limit baseball to 11.7 scholarships while allowing more for other major sports? They should at least allow enough for the starting fielders and pitching staff.

You know the experts on this board tower above Skip on knowledge of baseball and how to build a program.
Baseball this season, with most of the key starting pitchers injured, was similar to Football, a couple years ago, when we lost to Troy and Ms. State.
It wouldn't surprise me, if the young pitchers are healed, if we made another trip to Rosenblatt.

I want Skip to motivate the team before each game. Mainieri needs to hire him now, small consulting role.

Nice try a-hole with a 85 man roster and playing TROY AT HOME.

The only reason they were a few down on defensive line was the ones that left when gosse tete took over.

Yes. But the change in the late 2000's to scholarships had to be 25% was a big dent to schools like LSU that could benefit from TOPS. In the 1990's you could get the kid from in-state, have them on TOPS, and give them 5-10% which would (at the time) cover 100% of their tuition + fees.

Limiting the roster and concentrating dollars also gave leverage to the top players to go to college vs. straight into minor league. The 2nd round draft pick out of HS now knows he's got a spot on a limited roster, at a school with great training facilities, and at a value that has some weight to it.

Bruh I still don’t agree with the coaching and no hitting coach and getting beat down by much lesser in state schools.

This is what PO's me when f-tards start ranting LSU should be in Omaha every year and PM should win titles at the rate Skip did. Irrationality is chronic with some rantard posters. Throw in some injuries and slow developing expected high impact players and the struggle becomes real. There are teams that missed the tournament last year that are hosting this year, what does that say about parity?

Well Skank, we were down a few pitchers for most of the season.
You can't get the defense off the field if you don't have healthy D Linemen in football, nor Healthy Pitchers in baseball, so I think the comparison is applicable.

BLAHHHHHH BLAHHHHH BLAHHHH. LOSING TO TROY? Seriously? We had good shite in my day but damn it must really be good what you’re smoking. I would compare the QB MAYBE to losing a pitcher. Get out of here with that shite.
