Which again goes to show Skip was wrong for AD

Mett ran a naked bootleg with a 50 point lead from the 40 and almost scored. Miles was Piiiiiissed

My guess is that saban would have had a breakdown before the month of September was over. Having to share some of the football facilities with people that were homeless after the flooding wouldn't have been something he would have handled very well in my opinion.
What puzzles me is, I can't figure out how saban only won 9 games the year before with the "stacked" roster that Miles was able to win 11 games with. LSU only had around 15 recruits when saban left, so it's not like he had stockpiled a boat load of players for Miles first year.
Sweet Jesus, you aren't really this ignorant are you?
You don't know how Saban would have handled Katrina. I would imagine that he would have brought in some psychologists and some counselors to help the players deal with it. Probably had a nutritionist as some sports physiologists to give him a plan for the players to follow. Although the devastating tornadoes that hit Tuscaloosa don't compare to Katrina there was still plenty of death and destruction to hit that community.
Saban lost his quarterback (Mauck), best wide receiver (Clayton), an All-American lineman in Lavalais, Marquise Hill and a few others. He did okay considering all of that. He was a one point loss to an undefeated Auburn team from repeating as SEC West champs. The 2015 recruits. It was a small class. So what. There was a ton of quality players from the three previous classes: Russell, Bowe, Davis, Hester, Whitworth, Kyle Williams, etc.

Saban went like 9-4 his last year. Miles comes in and goes 11-2 and Saban tanks in NFL....
So Saban calls and says "I wanna come back"......you drop everything and do it?? I doubt it.
Saban only lost two regular season games his last year. Georgia game where we got blown out after they had 9 months to scheme how to break down our defense and Auburn where we got screwed by the refs. I seem to remember quite a few clowns on this board raising hell that we got cheated in that game on the extra point block. We lost the bowl on a hail mary. Far as I'm concerned, he went 9-2 during regular season. Pretty damn good for having MR and a rookie JR.

2004 record: 9 wins 3 losses
2005 record: 11 wins 2 losses
I said saban won 9 games the year before Miles first season, which was a 11 win year. Doesn't look that hard to understand.

Skip (on the part I heard) was asked that specific question and he stated not to his knowledge

No, we played 11 in both years. We played an additional game in 2005 because we went to the SECCG.

So who were they passed down to? JJ left in 2011. Jennings didn't get there till 2013. Doubt Mettenburger had them.

They had like 8 or 9. Guys like rp and holiday committed after Les was here. But keeping Jimbo helped with some of that.

Wrong. 2005 there were only 11 regular season games. Tigers were 10-1 with the only loss being the Hurricane forced Monday nighter when the team was mentally and physically exhausted. Then Russell got hurt against UGA in the SEC title game, not that UGA wouldn't have won anyway. LSU then destroyed Miami with Flynn at QB to finish 11-2.

Skips appears a little confused. He hadn't been the LSU AD for 3 years when that happened. And no way in hell anyone from Mich called Skip, nor did Alleva
Yeah i think Skip may be in the know.
Considering he is probably still BFFs some boosters and TAF people.

the best coach we've ever had
He was not the monster that he is today at Alabama when he left LSU. He averaged three losses per year at LSU.

Imagine how different SEC history would be if ole Skip had accommodated Saban. Talk about a blunder.
Again, he wasn't the monster he is now then. He just failed miserably in the NFL, and Miles was doing a good job after having to coach through the Katrina crisis. Also, Saban basically left LSU like a person that leaves a nasty fart in a room before exiting: had a rough season in 2004 after 2003, denied NFL rumors the whole time, held out to the very end before confirming that he was leaving which put the university in a tough spot for getting a new coach, and managed to lose a game on a last second throw to Iowa in the bowl on a defensive blunder no less. Not exactly the best way to leave a job.
Why should LSU and Skip have taken him back? frick Saban.

Actually we only played 11 in 2005 also.
There were 12 game schedules in 2002-2003, I think on a trial basis by the NCAA because of the way the calendar fell. Then they became permanent in 2006.
