Is this nothing more than an issue of picking apart an answer...

Someone answers no comment (Saban, Belichek) they get reamed. Someone answers vaguely (lazarre) they get reamed. Someone answers honestly (Skip), they get reamed.

I just think no matter what, social media will pick at what people say and find another way to slant or twist something for a headline. The only reason it keeps happening is because people care what they say (same with tabloids).

This story will be retweeted to millions of people/CFB fans and will be made into a story.

For no reason. Thanks skip.

And this is coming from a guy who does not know how to tell the time that a tweet was posted.

I know how to tell when a tweet was posted. Apparently you don't know the difference between when an interview was shot and when it was broadcast.

Why do you keep insisting that Skip's comments were not newsworthy?

You said they were opinion. Opinion isn't news, it's editorial.

And what will they make it in to?

A retired AD at LSU thinks a player on probation currently suspended for punching someone in a bar parking lot will not play for the team again.

How does that affect LSU as a program, on the field or regarding their decision on jeremy hill? (other than millions of twitter followers think lsu stinks like poopie pants)

A retired AD at LSU thinks
as far as I know, Skip is still "AD Emeritus" and officially involved with LSU with fundraising and other things. He is most certainly still associated with the athletic department.

Glad we care about what Skip Bertman tells us about football.
Although he's probably right and I'm sure as hell he has inside knowledge.

Anyway, this doesn't come as a surprise to me. The man needs to be kicked off anyway. When will Miles grow a pair and do this?

We have plenty of other guys who can and will step up to replace him.

So the station shot it yesterday, Doucet posted the interview on YouTube on his twitter page today and the station is still sitting on the interview?

This is what Doucet posted on his twitter home page answering a question about how he knew of Skip's comments:
quote:

There is video + he said it. Watched it this morning. Was interviewed by local TV stations.

So if Doucet saw the video, the station must have released the interview via some medium.

Okay, so slightly change the headline to read

"An "AD Emeritus" at LSU officially involved with LSU with fundraising and other things thinks a player on probation currently suspended for punching someone in a bar parking lot will not play for the team again."

He reported a person's opinions, just like the TV station did.

Sports and news reporters do it all the time. Every day, in fact.

I'm not desperate for shite. The fact that you don't agree with me gives me validation.

I'd be worried if we were ever on the same page about anything.

It's not that I don't agree with you.

Facts don't agree with you. See the difference?

And yes, you are very, very desperate.

"Opinions are not news."

My sources are solid. With that said, Skip's opinion does matter. He is a living legend and a pillar of the LSU athletic department. Please people, do not hate on Skip for this. The man deserves all of our respect. He has earned it many times over. I am curious what he meant by it. There is a big difference between opinion based on limited knowledge or his opinion based on conversations he has had with Les, Alleva, etc. I still stand by my position that he will only miss maybe two or three games, but I don't feel as comfortable as I did prior to this. The process will play out. Let it.

If he learned this in a private conversation with someone, why is he yapping to the media about it?

Should've taken Taylor.......I damn sure hope that Blue or hilliard don't go down, because that means Magee and Brazill will be getting significant snaps at RB. That and next year we'll be stuck with 2+ freshman in the rotation after Blue and Hilliard leave. Excellent planning.......and that's IF Fournette doesn't pull a McKnight.
