Les Miles says Simon will be opposite Claiborne during SEC media days. I like it, keep T-Raw wreaking havoc at nickel.

I figured as much after watching how beastly Simon was in the spring game.

I like that too. If Simon is ready to be a #2 I like his bigger frame on the outside and let TM play the slot and continue to blitz off the end.

That's exactly what we need to do. Let TM play close to the ball.

Les also said he likes the LSU offense and its identity last year

He always defended it last year as well which I never got. You can admit it was bad, it's a lot more comforting to see you recognize a problem then to pretend like it's not there. We did't change OC because we liked our offense.

This is a really good move IMO. Simon is a future All-SEC CB.

In fact, Mo/Mathieu/Simon are all All-American caliber DB's. We staaaaaacked. SEC is fuuuuuuuucked.

Simon should be fun to watch. There aren't many 6'3 CBs out there

So is this a indication of us going to a nickel defense mostly bc of our obvious deficiencies at the lb position?

I LOVE this move!!!!!!!!!!! This lets both Simon and Mathieu play to their strengths! Did yall see Simon in the Spring game???? People pressed the panic button because of JJ's overall #'s from that game but Simon took away 2-3 long pass plays that very few DB's could make. He's long athletic can jump and showed the ability to close on the deep ball after being behind a step or 2. Mathieu remaining in the slot and being able to roam freely and blitz and drop back in coverage in a zone read instead of man to man is what he does best. This deffense if the LB play steps up is gonna be a monster! Hurry up 9/3/11

Simon is a complete stud. His HS film was unbelievable and he and Mo will be awesome next year. Ive been on the field right next to Simon and Im 6'0" and he literally towered over me in cleats. He takes away perfect passes with his height. You just dont find guys who are 6'4" in cleats who have hips/speed like that

I love this defense. Two lockdown coners allows Mathieu to play the football.

Let loose the Dawgs of War!

Good call. Simon is bigger, and will give Matthieu a chance to come in on the nickel.

Completely agree...I was EXTREMELY critical of JJ last year. However, I thought he really did make some good throws in the Spring game, but Simon made some beastly plays!!... After watching the Spring game, Simon rose to my Def. sleeper pick like I said earlier in this thread. Dude is very good.

When Les said that I just started jumping around like crazy. Wanted to see this dude opposite claiborne ever since the spring game. He was my definite sleeper and one of my top three breakouts this year T-wrecks becomes a bloodhound(nose for ball) in the middle and Mo and Simon blanket both teams ones and twos
