So is this a indication of us going to a nickel defense mostly bc of our obvious deficiencies at the lb position?

It's an indication that we will run a lot of nickel and 3-2-6 because we are STACKED at DB.

This coach will not throw anybody on his team under the bus. I respect that, particularly considering he made moves to correct the failures during the offseason.

simon has the ability and like his potential...Trex reminds me of jerico nelson, one of the most underated defensive players in the SEC

Thats bullshite. Tyrann is the best corner on this team. I don't give a frick about height or size. He's much better than Simon.

Exactly, he was the #1 rated shutdown corner by Rivals, how in the world is a 3-star (all SEC, projected 1st rounder) and some overrated 6-3 corner starting over him

Its just better for the team, for Tyrann to not be on an island, if that even makes sense. T-raw wants the ball.

ok so he's better than mo?? Get out of here with this. Just because he makes a lot of plays and strips the ball a lot doesn't mean he's the best cover corner on the team

Simon has the potential to be Tory James 2.0.

Simon starting at corner frees up TM to wreak havoc all over the field, thus making our defense that much better.

Hopefully they will stay healthy.

I think this points to us running 5+ DBS the majority of our snaps more than anything. Would you rather have Mathieu roaming, or Francois/Hatcher at OLB?

Mathieu is too good to keep off the field.

Anyone else watching the ESPNU today when the reporters were talking about how in trouble the defense was once PP7 left and how we couldn't blitz as much because our secondary will need help. They don't know whats coming!

That's awesome news!!! We will have a defensive advantage in the secondary vs. everyone we play against. To have a guy like that to wreak havoc in the backfield in this day and age of the 'spread' offense is immeasurable. Not to mention, to have someone like T-Raw in the secondary that can play up and help with run support and hit running backs like a linebacker. It doesn't hurt that Tharold may be one of the best cover corners in the league at 6-4 and can run with the best of 'em.

Personally, TM is a guy you want all over the field. He's totally instinctive and when you have a gift like that he should not be put in a predictable situation. He's not a prototypical lock-down corner. He is a playmaker - let him play.

Tharold Simon has NOT proven himself. That swatted pass against Julio wasn't a big deal. He gets credit for that swat. Did you see the play before? He was BURNED if McElroy made the throw.

Cotton Bowl- Wow! Simon catches a pick. The ball was thrown to him. Did you all see Tyrann for the Cotton Bowl??? Go check the Defensive MVP Out!

If Miles was serious about that comment its bullshite. Tyrann has proven himself. Simon got all these cheerleaders because of the Spring Game. Go see how Tyrann's side was lock down. A Pass isn't thrown that way. If it is... It's negative yardage or Zero Yardage.

Never Disrespect Tyrann. ESPNU named the top 5 DB's in the Nation the other day. Tyrann was in there. Not even Claiborne. Y'all don't know shite about football.

If you don't think having all of them on the field at the same time with Tyrann roaming/blitzing, then you are the one that doesn't know shite.

Simon is not Peterson. It takes lockdown coverage for that to work like it did last year. Go watch some film dick.
