This seems to be upsetting people. They will get over it when the season starts.

Maybe. I saw Peterson guard Julio Jones and stay with him. When Peterson went down with a cramp. Bama went to Julio and immediately scored.

Based on what? Yeah he’s super talented but pump the brakes.

Peterson is an all time great tiger but the potential for Stingley is off the charts. Putting his already evident work ethic and talent (at the college level) aside.. the dude had like 2 passes attempted to his man that weren't intercepted. Not a PBU. not incomplete. Intercepted. He's gonna be a terror. A hybrid of PP7 and TM7.

Not upsetting, I hope he is better than PP. But, what is this he is currently better than PP ever was at LSU based off of? His tape against the Church Academy? Yeah we all know he is the best player in this class and he will be great, but I'd hold off on the PP comparisons for now.

Right, potential. You said he is currently better than PP ever was at LSU. So before playing a down at LSU he is already better than arguably our best defensive player ever? Nah.

Why would you respond this way?

Because it was an idiotic statement.

Patrick Peterson isn’t Jesus.

I never said he was.
quote:

Do you not realize how good Stingley is and may become?

I know he's good. There's a reason he was considered by some to be the top recruit in the country. The poster said that Stingley is already as good as or better that Peterson ever was while at LSU... The film you've seen of him is against high schoolers. He's played in a handful of practices at the college level. Why don't we let the kid play a down before making such bold statements?
quote:

We are talking rarefied air. It’s not a knock on Peterson. PP is an all time great but as far as coverage skills go we may be seeing something extra special.

Even you said it. Key word: may.
quote:

Do you not want a freshman CB in 2019 with skills equal to or greater than Pat Pete??

Of course I do. Why would I not want LSU to have elite players? But like I said earlier, let's let the kid play a down before calling him an all time great. Hell, let's see him play in the spring game before treating him like a consensus All American.
quote:

It’s like you have no idea who Stingley is.

I don't even know what this means. Apparently you think he's some sort of god.
quote:

WTF do you think everyone has been talking about him for?

Because he's an elite athlete with great skills, intangibles, and intelligence.

I am in no way knocking the kid, but please, let him take the field against an opponent before declaring him the GOAT.

He will be the greatest CB since primetime imo. LSU is lucky to get these generational talents...he seems to be highly intelligent as well. Sounds like a winner

Stingley is the best DB in collage sense Dion Sanders, Patrick Peterson never impressed me, Morris Claiborne never impressed me, this kid is real.

Maybe not, but I think we all need to take a step back and get our minds on something other than the FBI trial. Orgeron said during the bowl practices that Stingley was running with the number 1's. Man, I can't wait for football season to start. I can't wait for the rest of this class to get on campus. Tyler Shelvin will finally come around and show what he is really all about. Divinity is the next Devin White. Chassion breaks the LSU single season sack record. The offense breaks scoring records. John Emery jr breaks LSU's single season rushing record for a true freshman. Finally we take down the tide.

when I saw a thread title that referenced football, it was my first click. if basketball were most important, this site probably wouldn't exist.

FWIW, Peterson wasn't able to crack the starting lineup until the 10th game of his freshman season. Neither of the CB's that started ahead of him were drafted. Stingley will be a Day 1 starter and is already more advanced physically than Greedy Williams who is 3 years older and a projected 1st rounder.

Heard the hype is warranted for this kid. He’s going to house a few punt returns for TD s this year.

Also, I heard our offense looks awesome. Not that kool aid bs awesome that we hear every year either. I’m stoked for this upcoming season. It’s our first real chance to win a title in years.
