When Poche is your 4th best starter from a "stuff" stand point, you're going to be pretty good

The way the draft was before 2012 and the way it is now is entirely different. A team can't just draft a kid in round 25 anymore and throw 1.5 million.

The said MLB team essentially has to low ball kids in rounds 1-10 AND sign them to be able to use said extra money to put towards another player.

You can't just say I'll save this 7 million by not signing Brady Aiken and put 3 of that towards Mac Marshall. It was the reason Marshall didn't sign with the Astros.

Let's not forget about Latz.

2017 could be beast:

Fri: Lange
Sat: McKay
SUN: Latz/Godfrey/incoming FR

Future looks bright on the rotation for sure.

Um he sent out word to every mlb team literally right before the draft he was coming to LSU no matter what.

That is why he went that late. Teams didn't even care to take a late flyer on him until the Tigers of Detroit in the 30th

Maybe you aren't as familiar with the Detroit Tigers as I am? My son graduated from HS with Nick Castellanos. My son and Castellanos went to the same HS as Alex Avila - Detroit's starting catcher. Avila's father is Detroit's assistant GM. Castellanos told every MLB team he fully intended on going to The University of Miami. He ended up getting $3.45 million as the #44 pick while the last pick (#32) in the 1st round got less than $1 million from the Yankees - the deepest pockets in baseball. Backdoor shite like this happens all the time.

Pick #44 is a hell of a lot higher than being taken in the 30th ROUND

That's true...

but they can still do this if they are smart and make the numbers work, they just can't do it for the hell of it or whenever they feel like it like they did before.

No shite. Maybe you should go back to my original post.

Thank God this kid was drafted in the 30th round or I might presume that tweet was just a negotiation ploy.
