Fields wasn't the consensus no. 1 QB in the nation because of his good looks and charm. LSU fans are all for an LSU QB battle!

My opinion. Don’t want anyone who yells racist and gets triggered over some isolated incident.

Grow up.

Sorry, I'm not a big believer in the "Star System".
While sill in high school, 5-Star players are judged to be 1st round NFL picks... more than 75% do NOT become 1st round picks.

Almost 50% of 5-Star high schooler's don't get drafted at all.

Do realize that if you flip that stat around and say that 25% of 5-star recruits become 1st round picks, that it is a very impressive and telling stat that actually supports the "star system"?

Isn't fields way more mobile than Burrow?. Why would you want Burrow to run it when fields can do both better?

There is zero evidence that Fields can throw the ball as well as Burrow. The stats show the opposite.

I'll repeat the throwing stats that are available:
quote:

Fields threw the ball 42 times at Georgia as a back-up - 69%
Burrow threw 39 times at OSU as a backup - 74%

So, high school stats?

Fields threw (Jr. & Sr. years) for 4187 yards, 41 TDs, 65.8% - TD to INT - 5 to 1
Burrow threw (Jr & Sr. years) for 8177 yards, 110 TDs, 72.8% - TD to INT 12 to 1

Ohhhhhh. You just mentioned HS stats. Don’t you know those are irrelevant and not to be brought up on the Rant!
Nothing matters what a player did in HS. Heck, it was only his body of work that got him recruited in the first place but they are meaningless on the Rant. At least selectively or when you mention what Brennan did in HS, then it’s: Wellll he played against crappy defenses and it was the system and they threw the ball 40+ tines a game. Anybody could have thrown for a career of 16,000 yards and 150tds to 12 INTs. That’s not real football. Just Watch yourself!

LSU should just turn the No1 rated QB in the nation away, don’t want the problem of having too many top rated QB’s, let that be a problem for Ohio St, Ga, Alabama and other schools.

If he is that great why doesn’t he start for UGA?

The exact same reason Tua didn't start one game last year for Alabama. Are you saying Tua is not the better QB?

And I stress "exact" same situation.

And we should not touch him if that is what he is claiming to get immediate eligibility.

Enough issues arise through the course the year without taking a guy who makes on. He got beat out at Clemson.

I don’t want some drama basket case running our offense.
Sounds to me like the kid’s got a poor attitude and a weak mind. I’d take a guy with Burrow’s skill and leadership abilities over a Fields with more skill but terrible attitude and weak mind.
Not to mention I HIGHLY doubt he can read a defense like Burrow.

Fields is oppressed? Good lord, he's getting a full ride scholarship to a very good school (both academically and athletically) and because one idiot called him a bad name, you want to label him as oppressed? That's a massive slap in the face to all those who were truly oppressed.

I've lived in Athens and Atlanta for nearly 30 years. Seen thousands of black players come through UGA. Never heard of any systemic problem from any player, either during or after they left UGA. Of course there may be an occasional moron fan who says something bad about a player, but that's not a systemic problem, that's just an isolated idiot.

When is the last time we developed a QB from signing to success, without a transfer being involved? Flynn?

Perriloux could have been a great if he weren’t a goddamn idiot.

Lee and/or Jefferson can’t really be considered a success due to the way things ended.

Mett, Etling, and Burrow were all transfers.

LSU needs Alabama’s, Ga’s and Ohio St’s problem of having too many top QB’s, that’s the kind of competition LSU needs to win titles.

Been lying low on the boards since my Dad died in Columbus, Ohio earlier this month.

Here is some perspective as an Ohio University graduate (Joey's Dad DC) and my connection to UGA where my daughter is a senior. I traveled to Atlanta for the SEC Championship game and follow UGA on a daily basis.

To me, there are clearly two "Wildcards" in terms of where Fields will wind up.

Jadon Haselwood and Jaiden Field's, the sister of Justin Fields.

Jaiden is a senior in high school and has been committed to the UGA softball team since 2015. I glanced at her Twitter Feed, and it appears she is still planning on going to UGA. Not sure how "Team Justin" can play the racial angle on gaining the waiver if his sister still enrolls and goes on scholarship at UGA?

LINK

Jadon Haselwood of course is the 5-Star Receiver who had committed to UGA as a sophomore in high school. Haselwood and Fields have been very tight since a 7 on 7 camp which I think was a Cam Newton camp. Fields and Haselwood connected on an incredible TD and about a week later Fields de-committed from Penn State.

Haselwood's ego has grown out of control the past two years and his public complaints about UGA not throwing enough deep balls was a red-flag to many if he was worth having on the team. He signed the other day, but will not announce until January at one of the all-star games.

My hunch is Oklahoma may have as good a chance as the Evil Empire in Columbus in landing Fields. There is a possibility Fields could stay at UGA, but I doubt he does.

The question on the Oklahoma is if an NFL team comes calling for Lincoln Riley.

As for Joe Burrow, I have never met Joe or seen him play in person. I did exchange emails with his Dad to congratulate him on Joe earning the scholarship at O$U, despite after growing up a huge fan, I lost all respect for them during the Tressel era.

I told Coach Burrow that the Ohio victory over Penn State was probably going to be the last game I ever attended with my Dad and it was such an incredible experience for the two of us. I felt bad for Coach Burrow because of all the hatred expressed by a few Athens native's but primarily by Ohio University students and alumni who were ticked off he did not commit to Ohio University. I respected Joe for stepping out to go away for school which is good for any student and the accept the most challenging opportunity presented to him.

Joe is not Fields or Fromm, but he has maximized his ability and I don't think he has ever taken a play off. His six touchdown passes were epic in the State High School Championship game despite the narrow loss.

I wish Joe and LSU great success next year!
