With a little thought, not for the reasons stated, yes, move on & let the kids set the bar for any number

I don’t think any recruit has ever been promised 18. It’s earned and should stay.
I’ve never understood the fascination with 7. Don’t care who wears it.

Yes! Please make it stop!

I have to agree. Taking it away in the middle of the year pretty much ruined that tradition.

the players want to give #7 and #18 meaning, then so be it. It is 100% up to them to decide if it's something special or not to THEM.
Why any fan gives a single damn, I'll never understand. It's not about you, what you like, or what you think is stupid. It's not for the fans, it's for the players.
Thank you!
Personally I don't give a damn about number 7 but I love the idea of having an upperclassmen leader on the field wearing 18.
But at the end of the day it's not about what I care about. If kids want to be like pp7, honey badger or LF7 and want to continue their legacy with that number, then fricking do it.

About the same time as threads worrying about it

Yea let’s just let traditions die

They're called traditions. People tend to be fixated on traditions, it's the damn point.
There's absolutely no reason to get rid of the prestige attached to these numbers. 7 goes to the play maker, 18 goes to the leader and hardest worker.
Give delpit 7 as he has been a huge playmaker, while Devin fits the roll of 18 better as an incredible worker, role model, and leader.
I'm sure CEO learned his lesson with it and will make sure they go to proven players and not just used as a recruiting tool.
The prestige attached to them is fun for a lot of fans for the same reason we get interested in the awards our players get. These are even more exciting to some because it's an award that the team gives.
Why the hell are some of you so resistant to change and new traditions?

They just shouldn’t be given to an unknown (Giles). 7 given to the best athlete on the team and 18 given to a warrior that has put the work in. But everyone should absolutely quit making a big deal out of it and starting 62 threads asking who it’s going to be

Yes it should. Wouldn’t be missed.

I've never been a fan of the number hand down at LSU. A team names its captains and that should be the full extent of individual players being singled out from the rest.

Regardless of how you old timers feel, these young recruits love it. Stingley wants #7 and it did help with his recruitment
Posted on 12/12/18 at 7:54 am to number1Stunna
Absolutely. None of these players have played for a championship at this level.
#18 has been a non factor since Hester

I kinda like #18 honoring Buddy Lee being a thing.
