if LSU was in Bama's shoes, the meltdown would be epic, and I would hope any LSU fan would be pissed.
LSU wouldn’t have even been in the discussion after losing to Vanderbilt and Oklahoma in the same way Alabama did.

Now that the playoff committee has devalued strength of schedule by allowing multiple teams with weak schedules to be in the playoffs

Don't agree with that assumption. First, Alabama's OOC schedule NOT that tough. Although admittedly Wisconsin was SUPPOSED to be good, they were not. Wisconsin isn't even bowl eligible. Alabama played Mercer, W Kentucky, and South Florida...not exactly murderer's row. Second, Alabama didn't play Texas...didn't play A&M...didn't play Ole Miss...lost to Tennessee...and should have lost to S Carolina. They also lost to UNRANKED Vandy and OU which LSU had no problems beating. I guess I'm put you in the whiny SEC section of fans.

Hey Greg Byrne, want some cheese with that whine? Bottom line is your OOC schedule was WEAK...the team that was supposed to be good was not. Then, inside the conference you lost 3 games. Want to make the playoffs...don't lose as many games. Oh, and I guess, Greg, you had the sympathy for FSU last season when they were screwed out of a playoff berth that Alabama STOLE even though FSU went undefeated during the regular season and won the ACC CG game. What a SORE LOSER Greg Byrne is.

why make it harder with a P4 team OOC...

Everybody just assumes we will boatrace some OOC team in game one. And they assume we will be more prepared for some FCS team. The Nicholls game was close at halftime this year! Hard to recover from those mistakes by years' end. Put a team (and coach) on the field that will dominate september to january or get in the sunbelt with laugh-a-yet.

Reason: Rest of schedule has 5 potential Top 25 teams. That is enough. 10-2 with that schedule and you don't need a major out of conference win.

Ole Miss
Alabama
South Carolina
Texas A&M
Florida

How many years is south Carolina a top 25 team? Where would Florida have been ranked if they lost to LSU? How many nonconference teams on LSUs schedule finished the season ranked?

Or you win the game

But why take the risk? The risk is not worth it, since the committee has made it clear that do not care about strength of schedule, and only care about total wins and losses.

As long as we beat Vandy we're ok.

you clowns are stuck in the past and not looking towards LSU's best interests now. especially with our serious issues with NIL and portal.

Come to LSU where we don't compete in NIL and only play cupcakes at home. Sounds like a great recruiting pitch.

I think his point is that if SMU had to play Bama's schedule, they would have more losses and would not have been in the conversation.

Start dropping the conference championship game loser too far those games go away.

Is that even an option? How does that work contractually? Is there a termination clause, and what is the penalty, if any?

I voted "no" on the general principle of honoring commitments/agreements...

Clemson had the advantage of LOSING their season opener then playing a SOFT AS shite ACC schedule.

Cancel the Clemson game and schedule an exhibition with IMG academy for all I care.

Saban had this right.

SMU should have been 12 before the ACC champ game due to SOS. Then when they lost you could have put the better team in the playoffs

Part of me thinks the ACC did everything they could to create this.

Miami was kept alive and in the top 25 at least 2 times this season after calls went to the conference office for review.

Then Clemson had 0 penalties called on them in the Champ game. 0…I’m just saying.

Trust me the conference wanted Clemson to win to try and get 2 teams in the playoff.

Did I hear that the SEC was 8-3 against the ACC? What bump did they get?

No Clemson should. If not for OOC games they would have been 11-1 and had a bye. It was conference losses not OOC that cost Bama, don’t lose to 6-6 teams and it wouldn’t be an issue. Ole Miss OOC was shite. I expect this nonsense from avg posters figured Chicken would be smart enough to not fall for Bama crying but here we are.

The SEC has a rule that everyone must play at least one non-conference game against a Power 4 opponent. The Clemson game is the only way LSU meets that requirement next year.
