IMO they aren't going to be on the field at the same time very often.

I douby they will ever be on the field together unless it’s a goal line, or other short yardage, situation,

Pelini all but said in an interview with Jacob Hester that they would both start next season. But I’m sure you know more than him.

He didn't say anything remotely like that. How are some of you so slow?

I'm excited about watching Shelvin next year. If he works hard this off season he'll have a good year and make himself a lot of money

You have to double team this guy to block him which will open up holes for our LBs

Good fricking luck trying to run the ball against our beef. It's just not going to happen.

This is a point that I keep making. Nobody of any consequence outside of UGA is trying to run the ball down anyones throat anymore. Aranda stuffed UGA, OU, and Clemson with his high speed multiple look 3-4. We best be ready to control the passing games.

Fortunately we have an arse of linebackers too and can probably line up however we want for the situation. I think Pellini is smart enough to know what he has to do but I keep seeing comments like we are going back to the 2005 defense schemes...

Even Chavis had his Mustang package like Aranda ran his Cheetah.

So does Cox start over Baskerville is that where he plays? I mean damone is gonna start, pelini was gushing over him. He couldn't talk about Cox at the time. He was talking like its gonna be micah and damone, but that was before Cox came in the picture, for sure.

ou might only see a three deep for the NT with a five deep at DT. The NTs will see limited action.

Well there are no NTs in a 4-3 so there is that. In a 4-3 you are rarely if ever lining up directly over the center.

They are both one tech DT's. They will not be in the game simultaneously. They will rotate exactly like last season.

As Tyler Shelvin, Apu Ika, and Jacobian Guillory are all one tech DTs.

Glen Logan, Neil Farrell, Jaquelin Roy, Nelson Jenkins, & Eric Taylor are all three tech DTs.

Now that doesn't mean they can't insert them into the game at the same time for certain situations.

I don’t think these two will be on the field that much together other than to slow the run maybe against bama and n Harris
The good thing is you can use both and keep them fresh
At the other dt you probably need someone a little more flexible
I’m more interested to see who ends up at de and olb

I dont think youll see two 330+ players in at the same time

Why. If Bo goes back to a 4-3 base, those guys in the middle would wreck shite up.

Yeah just because a guy is 320 plus doesn’t automatically mean is can only play nose. Shelving looked explosive at times last year I definitely think he can play 4-3 tackle and Guillory is also very athletic and mobile for his size. I doubt most saying he can only play NT have ever seen his film.

As long as it doesn't take away Shelvin from punt returns I'm good.

You sure about that?

I know what you’re thinking.

De/DT/DT/de.

But there is a nose tackle in a 4-3

One of the best defenses in NFL history used 2 huge tackles.(2000 Ravens)

It's not unthinkable that we could go a similar route.

Except that Coach O has said repeatedly he is looking for more penetration and aggressive play from his DL in the new system. LSU has had many great DT who played around 300#. Perfect for the 3 Tech DT. Glenn Dorsey was 303#. A perfect 4-3 DT who was screwed when KC switched to a 3-4 after drafting him.
