I don’t think there’s a single guy (outside of the walk ons) that should surprise you if they enter the portal.

Shareef should have played a lot more than he did this year. Really no good reason why he didn’t. He’d probably have a great season next year if he stayed

He Colbert and Ozwero should’ve been priorities.

Idk with everyone leaving I think it be smart for a middle of the road type of talent to stick around. Then maybe get a chance to play big minutes in the SEC, and maybe have a chance to get drafted in the league.Shareef won’t get a lot of playing time unless he went to a smaller program or stuck around through the bad year that will be next season more than likely

To my knowledge none of the players on LSU's roster this year have any history with McMahon. Most of them were recruits above the caliber of player he generally recruited. So ANY of the current roster entering the portal shouldn't come as a surprise. If, for nothing else, to test the transfer market.

It would be more surprising if someone on LSU's roster did not enter the portal.

Not that you’re wrong but it’s still a bad sign for someone like O’Neal to be leaving. It’s now his second transfer on top of his injury history and he’s leaving a place where he’d probably get his best shot at big minutes. You also have to take into account how KJ Williams was featured for McMahon, a player that resembles O’Neal’s skill set which strengthens the prospect of O’Neal maximizing his potential by staying. Entering the portal doesn’t guarantee he’s leaving but it’s still worrisome to say the least.

I don't get it. I think he showed slightly more promise than Josh Maravich.

Question is where is he going now. Running out of time and places to play.

O’Neal is nothing like Williams. Williams is a big strong guy. O’Neal isn’t.

Bc a guy is In the portal doesn’t mean he is leaving. They are being smart. See who else wants them. What deals can they get.

This is a dumb move and Shaq is smart about these types of things. Hopefully he will advise Shareef to stay.

Shareef could play 35 minutes a game next year, which he needs because he's been hurt for three years.

He's good, but not a star. Not many major programs can offer him that type of playing time.

Yes he’s more physical but their inside FG% are nearly identical and Williams took over 3 threes per game, O’Neal also has range just didn’t get many looks. Their rebounding% numbers aren’t much different either and O’Neal is actually a better rim protector. They’re more similar in skill set than you think. I’m not saying O’Neal would duplicate Williams’ production but he can definitely be used in that role the way Williams was his first couple seasons.

I hope everyone is getting mentally prepared for LSU to be 10-15 win team or worse the next 2 years. Maybe respectable 18-23 wins by 2025.

Why would it be worrisome? It’s a choice he is making.
