Obvious troll is obvious.

Also, the last time I checked, graduating from an SEC isn't exactly like graduating for an Ivy league school.

Proof that universal popularity is impossible and there will always be a critic. We are talking about Shaq who is a multimillionaire because he played a game. Not only did he come back to LSU and get a bachelors but he has recieved an MBA and a doctorate from various entities. There is literally no financial benefit for him from doing this. He is doing it purely for the fun and betterment of himself. THAT is what higher education is supposed to be about. Not purely vocational resume like 99% of todays college students. Also Shaq can unabashedly say to every kid that he talks to to stay in school and value education. How many guys who leave early finish their degree? Much less do graduate work.

And since you brought the name up lets just compare Shaq and Kobe. Shaq off the court is known for his cheesy movies, attempted rap cds, being a volunteer police officer, and getting his bachelors MBA and Ed D. Kobe is known for raping a woman in Colorado. Now who is the one we need to be criticizing.

I just wish I could give you more than one "like"

The most impressive thing to me about this is that he did it with little motivation other than just actually doing it.

It's not like he was going to increase his career earning potential like the rest of us by getting a doctorate.

I think you missed the point of him posting how much it cost to go there.

He is saying that it is actually a university not a diploma mill, but even at a diploma mill if you do the work you will know just as much as the people that come out of an on campus school.

There is no better ambassador for LSU than Shaq. I've believed this all along.

Thanks Shaq!

The Herald article has some more details and ceremony photos.

Here's a link to the program at Barry University. It's a nice place a little north of UM.

I respect Shaq's quest, to acquire an advanced education, albeit honorary, and in the process, become a solid role model.

It's not honorary.. What's so hard to understand about "earned"?

While I have reservations about the quality of some of these online colleges, I don't think anyone with any knowledge about Shaq and his body of work on and off the court can deny that he is an extraordinary guy. He is smart, he can laugh at himself, he has been a terrific ambassador for LSU, plus he was a helluva player.

I wish him all the success that he gets.

Go Shaq. You da' man.

Hey a-hole... I went to LSU and USL, got a 4 year degree and 2 year also in a different field. Then I took online classes and got my MBA- focus in Global Management at Ashford Univ. in Iowa while living abroad. I learned just as much and my teachers interacted with me more than when I went to LSU

You know everything!!!
