I'd argue it's the worst game in our history PERIOD.

It's really hard to imagine just how different things would have been.

1) We'd have throttled OSU in the NCG. Yup...we'd have bludgeoned them with our boring, predictable offense...but it would have happened.

2) A second NC instead of an embarrassing loss gets reflected in a few extra recruits and national prestige over the next year or so which might very well translate into a few extra wins or a play here or there.

Of course, the Miles legacy here would have ended differently with 2 Titles.

Eventually, Saban would have caught us and surpassed us...he's that good and his set up in BAMA has just got too many inherent advantages but it would have taken longer and we'd have likely been in a better position when it finally happened...and would likely have better replaced him when he left.

Ironically, I was a student at KU at the time, but my allegiance has always been with LSU. Hell, I went to like 6 LSU games in the 2011 season. I was at a bar where everyone was pulling for ISU and when that game ended I knew we were doomed. Still think Oklahoma State made the FG at the end of regulation.

I remember rooting for Iowa State without realizing the implications. I blame myself.

I remember coming home from our playoff loss to Barbe and my dad telling me about the upset. Needless to say, I was upset.

Still remember everyone at Fred’s going crazy when OSU lost save for me and maybe 10 other people who knew what was going to happen then

Frick Brandon Weeden and frick their kicker

You could argue that 2 PLAYS could have changed the course of recent history. The missed FG by OSU is the first one, the Yeldon TD in the 2012 Bama game is the 2nd. Without those 2 plays, it's probable at the end of the 2012 season LSU would have won back to back SEC and National Championships. If that happens, perhaps the flow of top end talent out of the state doesn't begin to ramp up, and conversely the reverence of Bama nationally doesn't occur.

Sadly, we'll never know

Play # 3- the absurd prsonal foul on Vadal Alexander in 2014 which forced a field goal instead o a possible touchdown. Even if they had had not scored a TD and settled for a shorer FG BAMA would have been forced touse all of its timeouts an dprobably not been able to get into position for a tying FG to go into overtime.

Worst game for me. Thanks for bringing up great memories.

PS - we got screwed by the big 12 officials with our field goal in the 4th. Ball clearly was inside the upright.

It sucked to see this happen.

But if Tyrann Mathieu did not get himself kicked off the team in 2012, I think that year would have gone very differently for us.

We still had a very good team after losing in the bcs. And Mathieu was just that good, he would have cemented himself in College football lore with a followup year to 2011.

Was Okie St definitely going to be ranked ahead of Bama if they won that one?

For sure. Even with the loss, they BARELY finished behind Bama in the BCS; the computers still had Okie State as the #2 team.

EVERYONE forgets that the Okie State BB HC died the night before this game.

Okie State should have gotten a mulligan, IMO. They were shafted in favor of Alabama...

That would have been the GOAT season.
