Honestly I'd rather have stansburry if we had to sink that low.
At least stans would dominate Louisiana recruiting, and there's a lot of instate talent these next few years. Stans also has had success in the sec-the butthole of the conference to be more precise
I'm not huge on either but definitely team Stans if it comes to it

I humbly disagree. Stansbury would be akin to rehiring Brady. I really don't get this myth that Stans can recruit Louisiana. That kid from Chalmette is going to WKU bc his uncle or godfather is an assistant

1st u said LSU wouldn't fire Johnny. Now your saying its gonna be a disaster. And if it's not, then you'll say [insert negative]. Man.....u need to relax.....have some faith. Lsu isn't hiring a retread.....that includes mussleman

Never said they wouldn't fire him. I said I had a bad feeling they wouldn't.

You think Stans hired that uncle/godfather because he was the best coach for the job
Slick Rick can recruit but sucks at coaching them

I live in the Borough and I would trade BR. for living here. It is fantastic here but has nothing on BR

Like Trent Johnson?
There will be no perfect hire for this gig. Faults will be found with all potentials. Not wanting a guy based on fresh blood is one of the last concerns IMO

I think he and Musselman will be the fall backs after going after a few bigger names.
Musselman is a pretty freakin good fall back plan. I'd take him over Kermit all day every day.

That was my point. For all the naysayers, I think Musselman is the main fall back. I think Kermit is the emergency fall back. Both would be solid hires, but I would prefer Musselman.

If Alleva hires Kermit, I will not attend another LSU basketball game until they are both gone.

Therefore, the list should be a lengthy one; including Williams, Collins, Forbes and Rice, in addition to Drew, et al. Don't shorten the process and settle for the quick or the cheap. Be exacting and deliberate: above all, close.

Fair point. I hope our argument is irrelevant anyway, and the hire is neither

Kermit is not necessarily a splash hire but he would be a good hire. I would love to believe what AFR is saying about Mike Brey, but I have my doubts.
Either one would succeed at LSU.
Watch for ND and MTSU both end up in the Sweet Sixteen.

If he's the best we can get, shut down the program. I can't believe his name is in the conversation.

Comparing Rick Stansbury to Kermit Davis is just hilarious and priceless. Stansbury was the 2nd best coach in the SEC for nearly 10 years. He's won multiple SEC championships and brought State it's first title since the early 60s. Kermit Davis has a 16-42 power 5 record and has been toiling in mid majors for 20 years never once being offered a job at another major school. The fact that some ppl want Davis shows how far Alleva and King have dragged our athletic program down. Our fans have witnessed so many poorly coached sports teams and mediocrity they actually want someone like Davis.

Richad Williams won the SEC title at State and also took them to a Final Four in the 90s. One of Williams assistants was Kermit Davis. Davis was replaced with Asst. John Brady, who was replaced with Asst. Rick Stansbury. Williams was let go and Stans got the job because he recruited the Final Four team.

Count me in. Have had season tickets forever-but enough of this crap. If LSU doesn't care about basketball, why should I? Same if they hire Stansbury.
Need a serious hire-no reruns.
