They are letting AJ Swann stay with and practice with the team even though he’s technically in the portal. That tells me he’s the emergency backup for Nuss, and we’re going 100% to try to win this game. Nuss will take every snap while the game is still anywhere close to being in doubt.
As he should. Going against a Dave Aranda defense is only going to give him more things to both in real time and on tape. That can only help him be better next year. And we paid him close to $2 million to come back. Dude is fricking playing.

FYI - before he reclassified, Hurley was a 2025 five-star prospect according to the 247Sports composite. He picked the Tigers over schools like Miami, Alabama, Georgia, Florida and Ohio State.

No it’s not. There can be a lot of answers as to why he should play that I can I can agree with. I’m just questioning it behind a make shift oline. And LSU also needs to see what Hurley looks like outside of s mop up situation

Depends on what you think “matters” means in this context. I think Swann was processed and told he should probably seek a new school. I’m sure he saw the writing on the wall, and it was mutual. I think it says a lot about how the LSU coaches and feel about him and vice versa.
However, I also think it means they aren’t trying to send 17-year-old Hurley out there again a Dave Aranda defense with the game on the line. You mention others who went in the portal and came back, but they weren’t QBs. Hell, at least 2 backup QBs entered the portal and left their teams before the PLAYOFFS to get a head start on the musical chairs.
Tl;dr—AJ Swann being active today could mean several things. I think the most obvious one is BK is not ready for Hurley to play in a competitive game where the W or L actually goes on our record.

Objective. You play to win the game. Nuss gives you a chance to accomplish that.
