They're not scared. I already knew that. I just don't think they have the ammo.

Nah they beat us because they had 4 guys drafted in the top 10 rounds including 2 guys drafted in the first 4 rounds.

Meanwhile we had an outfield that had Àlex Edward in right and Mason Katz in center.

I left and went to the adult novelty store in Port Allen during the rain delay. True story.

Our pitchers totally could not handle the rain and could not throw any breaking balls.

I was at that game, seemed like every time we were in the field it was pouring. Every time Stony Brook was in the field the rain stopped.

It was just a weird deal.

I watched Stoneybrook play Miami in the Miami regional leading up to the Super Regional. I said that Stoneybrook has a lot of off speed pitchers that try to get you to swing at pitches out of the zone. LSU needed to be disciplined at the plate and lay off the 85 mph fastball 6" off the plate. We could not resist. They had so many 6-8 pitch innings against us, it was ridiculous.

They had no pitching depth, but we let their pitchers get deep into the game with low pitch counts because we were swinging at everything. Miami did the same.

It was it was similar to the time we lost to UCLA in the CWS because we could not lay off the chin high fastball from the UCLA pitchers.

That and eight players in their entire batting order had averages over .300.

They beat us because as I remember it, their hitters made our pitching look like we were throwing batting practice. The pitcher they used in the final game had already pitched a game 2 days before, and literally fell out on the mound following the final out. They whipped us in every way possible, and there was nothing we could do about it either.

i'm not sure that people then or now remember this. they had the better team on paper. they had 5 pro prospects and lsu had 1 or 2.

also, ragarm that pitched around 125 pitches in the first game then pitched more than 100 in the 2nd. to this day i've never heard of anyone doing anything close to that. i couldn't believe it. that's 1920's stuff when people were throwing 45mph

This year's SB pitching will look very similar in terms of velocity and stuff. I don't discount the need to have an approach at the plate and grinding the game out. If we're just up there hacking, the game will be tight for awhile.

The offense for SB is largely less talented than they were. But, again, we have to pitch well. These are all college baseball players that will, if not the first time, eventually hit mistakes.

I still just don't think they have the ammo. We could struggle a little at the plate and on the mound, and still grind this game out. If we completely dump in the bed pitching, fielding, and defense...of course we will lose.

I anticipate a good outing for whoever starts for LSU, and solid bullpen work thereafter. I'm anxious to see if our offense can get going. I think it's important that our offense get going for the sake of confidence heading into Saturday.
