Why is a JV DC from a third rate program the highest on the LSU list anyway?

Boy, some of you need a reality check.

Freeman, per a source in Cincinnati with direct knowledge, had told his Bearcats’ linebackers Friday afternoon that he was departing and had chosen to accept LSU’s offer. Notre Dame sources had told FootballScoop earlier on Friday that the Irish appeared out of the mix to land Freeman, the Broyles Award semifinalist in 2020 after a third-straight season of stellar work atop the Bearcats’ defensive unit.

But Friday afternoon, Notre Dame leaders huddled and made another effort with Freeman, included an improved salary offer over the term of the deal, per sources with knowledge of the developments.

The DC that left Notre Dame for the Vandy job was making 1.6 million per footballscoop.

BK makes a hell of a lot more than 1.8 million. It's a private school that doesn't have to report full salary. Their DC that left for Vandy was making over 2 million. Sack up some of you. He's an Ohio native who almost attended ND as a player. And LSU isn't Alabama.

So we clearly didn't offer him enough. The money should've never been close between us and ND (who is known for not paying well I.E. Kelly only makes 1.8M a year)

Kelly's salary is $1.8mil but his outside compensation is not disclosed. He is believed to be in the $4-5 Mil range, otherwise he would have left South Bend a long time ago.

I am not sure what they pay a DC in total compensation.

Had to be around what we offered him. No way he turned us down to take a significant decrease in pay to go to ND. He probably told ND if they offered him what we offered, he would come. The wife made the call on this one. Sucks but true.

Yes. Maybe not even what we offered.

If I had to guess, it played out like this:
LSU offered Freeman the most money
Wife wasn’t too keen on moving so far
Freeman gave Notre Dame a number
ND came up to that number and he accepted

ND is probabaly paying him less but it’s enough to satisfy the family factors.

Seems like he didn’t have the chest to play in the SEC.
why else would he pass on LSU. The facilities and talent is the best of the best and the money was there

Can’t he just start with some push-ups and bench press?

Per The Advocate.

I dont think LSU has the money to compete with ND especially with some of the buy-outs they have to pay.

Did he really tell his players he was going to LSU?

Listening to WWL sports on the way home the day he interviewed from work, they said he left Baton Rouge without a commitment.
Then I read here players tweeted he was going to LSU. They could not have possibly actually met with him because he was travelling to ND to interview with the Irish. My guess is he may have told someone he was leaving and they assumed it was to LSU.

He went to ND before LSU, so I have no idea what you're talking about
