So we're visiting team today?

Wasn't the play officially ruled a 3-8 put out with Stevenson covering 2B?

In other words, not only should that play have ended that inning, but it should have also ended the 6th inning for AU.
Out 1 when Chinea picked up the ball w/ his foot on first.
Out 2 when he tagged him on the jump
Out 3 when he appealed and touched the bag
Out 4 when the runner was tagged going to 2nd (although, I like the mentality of the runner figuring they'll probably screw that one up too).

To be honest with you, I have no clue how they determine the home team at this point. Seems like the rules change by the day.

I think how it goes is: Arky has been visitor more times than LSU (1 to zero), so LSU will be visitor.
The corollary is: it's LSU, so screw LSU.

Yeah I think that's it after the 2nd round. Worst rule ever. Higher seed should be home team throughout as a reward for season performance. Should be that way for every tournament except 3 game series should go H-A-H. That has bothered me for years.

I'm convinced there needs to be some sort of minimal competency test for umps.
If they did that there might not be enough umps to call a game.

don't they do that for regionals too? I never liked that rule.

And that would be a bad thing?

at the very least, that 1b ump should be relieved of his ump responsibilities and sent back to ump school.

I've always agreed with this. Unless the lower seed is in the winners bracket and the higher seed is coming out of the losers bracket.. Reward the lower seed for advancing

This is T-ball mentality. "We have to be FAIR!"
Screw that. Earn your right to be home team by having the best record.
Of course, the tournament is in Alabama...

Did you notice that it was Bregman who comes up behind Chinea and told the ump the runner had missed the bag?
The dude loves to sprint off the field...and help the umps with the call.

That's a standard play. Bregs rushes to 1st, Stevenson covers 2nd.
Posted on 5/21/15 at 9:32 am to 81Tiger
also explains why Stevenson was there by 2nd base, he was sprinting in as well.

From a conversation we had earlier in the thread it isn't a stretch as much to think if Arkansas somehow won this whole thing that they could host.
Beating then #6 RPI Florida last night, Arkansas's RPI jumped from #36 to #29.
If they beat LSU(#4 RPI), LSU again, and Texas A&M(#6 RPI). They should be a lock to Host IMO
With that said, I do not think Arkansas wins with how thin their bullpen is at this point on starting pitching. Just was a follow up from a previous question.

Mizzou gets a 1-out single.
They've been stroking the ball well this series.
That didn't come out right.
ETA: erased in a DP.
