Wow. Solid starting pitching. 15+ hits a game. Where was this the last month?

All of a sudden, we're the 2 seed nobody wants to see in their Regional!

+1. Gotta give him a chance in a high pressure situation and show him that you have confidence in him. Only way he can get his confidence back

yeah good thing we were up by 4 to do it

Also, Matty threw well that last inning. His ball was down and around the zone the entire time. He had some bad luck there.

My concern is the seemingly lower velocity (didn't see the radar gun) and lack of hitting the corners. The only strikes he seemed to get were right down the middle. Also, every swing but the very last made contact, usually solid.

I know Ott sucked there

No he didn't. His pitches were good, just some bad breaks there.

In high school, a pitcher can't be forced into a balk by a batter attempting to call time out. I would think that the rule is the same in college, and that is why they moved the runner back.

I've never heard of that rule

There should be no contraversy regarding that balk call. They got the hit and the guy scored from 1st.

Listening on the radio and the announcers said the rule was if a batter called time out, it is automatically given to him. apparently batters a few years back were doing this on purpose to throw pitchers off, and they changed the rule.

Matty looked much more confident with his body language tonight. And he located his fastball better.

The thing with Matty is locating the first pitch for a strike. Mainieri goes ape shite if Ott goes 2-0, then he starts serving up gopher balls
