I think it was because the tag was so high. The ump is looking at the plate and expecting a tag in that area as well. By the time he adjusts and looks to where the tag is, everything has happened so fast it's easy to make that mistake. Great play by UF Catcher.

Even on a pitchout, you have to put ball in play. Don't put the lead runner in that position. The ball was reachable and you are taught to swing
