"While the original evaluation and assessment of the penalty was not properly executed, it is unacceptable to have debris thrown on the field at any time."

This conference and its officials are an absolute joke. Kirby made a comment that the head official told him in the post-game that he meant to call offensive PI. So not only did they not go back and call OPI but the conference came out and said it wasn't properly executed...two different stories from a garbage crew.

BTW if you don't like calls anymore...I would recommend water bottles instead of beer cans.

In other words, "We didn't do it. You didn't see us do it. You can't prove anything. It's all their fault."

I loved it after the game when Kirby said that the officials tried to take the game away from them. What a joke. Texas has become the new Bama, on steroids, in the SEC. They literally tried to cheat that game away. Even Herb was trying to be politically correct but still basically saying that was a terrible call.

For the biggest and best conference in college football it feels like they have the worst officials.

I’ve also found that officials (more this year than in the past) don’t understand the standard of “indisputable video evidence” “beyond all doubt.”

Oh no! More fans are waking up to the fact that the SEC blatantly fixes games and they can't handle it.

Look at UT coming right into the SEC and getting the Bama treatment already. Money does talk.

Whether it was a terrible call is irrelevant. They called it and placed to ball into play. You can’t reverse it after the fact. It may be the worst reversal ever.

The entire situation was BS from the initial penalty, then the enforced penalty which the ball was set and then UGA was about to run a play and then the refs decided to meet and overturn a non-reviewable call.

They should've called a bad OPI the next play to set things straight

If the NCAA wants to run CFB like the NFL development it really is … they need to hire full-time paid officials.

It is evident they care less about getting it right than they do about profitability.

That’s ridiculous. The truth is yes they went about it a ridiculous way, but the PI call itself was HORRENDOUS

The result of the play should have been Texas ball exactly like it ended up

Possibly the worst, but definitely the most corrupt or easiest to order what to call to gain the most favorable outcome for the league. And this was predictable as soon as they admitted Texas and its giant pile of cash.

For years, Bama got the calls and the scheduling favors because the league office is in Birmingham and populated by Bama grads. And in games where a call would benefit a CFP contender against a non-CFP contender, guess who got the calls? I’m an LSU fan and we saw LSU get some favorable calls against South Carolina. Occasionally, even Bama would get screwed if it meant the possibility of helping a second SEC team make the 4-team CFP.

But Texas is gonna get favored nation status now because of the increase in revenue the SEC will get from having the Horns in the league.

I just don’t see how you can say Texas got favoritism when the end result wa simply the right call being made

They didn’t reverse the call because it was the right thing to do, they reversed the call because Texas fans threw a temper tantrum.

The refs went about it completely wrong, but the end result was the right call being made

To me, that doesn’t equate to UGA being screwed

I am not certain what you were watching. The defensive player latched on to the receiver, then the receiver pushed off to get loose. At a minimum it was defensive holding.

PI was the right call.

What happened after was the worst officiating I have witnessed, and I have been watching football since the earth was cooling. The officials essentially rewarded the bad behavior by UT fans by overturning their own call on a non-reviewable play. The call had obviously been finalized by setting the spot and allowing Georgia to line up for the next play.
