SEC Spring Game Attendance Misperception

I've heard a lot of heat being put on LSU fans for the low attendance at the practice uuggrr Spring Game, especially in relation to that team to the east' attendance. It was listed at 92,000+.
Well I just got my copy of Sports Illustrated this month, and there's a picture of Phelon Jones making a play in the endzone, and the stadium seating can be seen clearly in the background. Everything from the corner to the opposite 30 yd line is visible, and there isn't 29,000 people in that stadium! Relax, if you're going to pound on anybody, pound the LSU marketing department for not lying about our attendance.

I was at the spring game, and it wasn't lightly attended at all. Both the lower east and west side were packed.
Exactly how many people SHOULD have been there?
Any more and all it would have shown is how nobody has a LIFE around here.
It's a practice.

92,000 for their Spring Game is both impressive and sad at the same time.

It was because THEY have nothing better to do...they don't boil crawfish on weekends..they don't have nearly as much festivals as Louisiana...fishing isn't as good ..several reasons why...

And ours was on ESPN. Some ppl dont want to sit out in the heat when they can watch it in HD. I was there FWIW. Not sure if Bama's was on ESPN

If they want more people to show up,then kickoff should be at 7PM.
Football on Saturday night in the Spring would be an nice touch.

I thought the same thing. I got my SI copy yesterday and saw that same photo on pages 8 and 9. I thought the same thing. There weren't 92,000 people there unless thousands of people went to the game dressed as empty seats. I tried to find that same photo on SI.com to post it here, but was unable to find it there. The only photos of the game I saw came from the Bama link, and they show a full house:
I guess a lot of fans left early....

They also didn't win a National title last year so a lot of the fair weather fans have moved back into hiding until the next time they win.

The Spring Game was actually competing against Talladega for the weekend.

Crawfish aren't as exclusive to Louisiana as they once were. People catch them and boil them is as odd places as Wyoming now. That being said, I'm not going to argue about Louisiana's culinary reputation.

There are plenty of festivals and cultural events during this time of year. Central Alabama isn't as culturally defined as south Louisiana, but with the population of central Alabama nearing 2 million, I can assure you there are several things to do.
I can't attest to the fishing, as I've never fished in south Louisiana, but the Bassmaster Classic has been held in Alabama several times. I also know the fishing in the Gulf is quite impressive along the Alabama Gulf Coast.

That plays was with about a minute left in the game. Everyone started leaving after 3rd quarter. So 29,000 is about right.

That's normal for the spring games since Saban has been at Alabama. Not many of the starters are in during the second half. Most people start to leave.

You know that pic is from 2007, right?
