They dicked around all week when anybody with any half a brain knew what Foley and McElwain were up to. I have no problem with the game not being moved to Tiger Stadium since it would have basically been 3 road games for them back to back, but you can't tell me that an alternative location could not have been found if decided by Wednesday. no way in Hell does this game need to be played in November. Nor should LSU be forced to drop South Alabama and pay them money just to move that game around. Force them to Forfeit, should count as a win for us and a loss for them because they were the fools that brought this on. Not the Hurricane , I know that is a natural thing but you can't tell me that Florida didn't have the time to consider a neutral location. Rant finished.

I agree with you, but obviously they wouldn't do that because it is easily spun as the SEC kicking Florida after a major hurricane and would be a terrible PR move.

False!

See LSU vs ASU in 2005, or USC - LSU in 2015.

Sometimes you have to move the game. Foley was given that option. He declined. UF should forfeit.

I agree with you.

Sometimes you have to move the game. We did it twice, USCe did it last year.

Foley had that choice and he said no. Forfeit.

I am not saying I agree with it, I am saying that the media will portray it as Florida getting the bad end of the stick for getting a CAT 4 hurricane as well as a loss. Would be a bad PR move.

Good point. But a real leader as a commissioner would have laid down the law. I guarantee you Roy Kramer would have had this in Baton Rouge Saturday or Gainesville Monday.

Instead Florida got to hide their injuries behind Matthew.

Forfeit won't happen. FL AD indicated the commish made the decision.

I agree. Don't make them forfeit this week out of respect for Florida's situation.

Let all of Foley's frick frick games come out in the wash and then force the forfeit in 3 weeks.

Commish said they could not play on Saturday.

Florida said they will not play in Baton Rouge or in Gainesville on Sunday or Monday.

Only if you are a POS in the PR Department . . . . like Joe Alleva!

With a marginally competent PR effort is not a hit at all. In fact it would be exactly the opposite.

LSU arranging for the plane. LSU securing Hotels. LSU playing the role of gracious and sympathetic hosts. LSU understanding how hard this can be due to our own experiences. Etc., Etc., Etc.

No. We wouldn't want it that way if the situation were reversed. Respect the decision. It wasn't that long ago that LSU & other teams faced similar problems. Florida has fans and players from all over Florida. With the potential damage from the hurricane, how could anyone expect a different decision. Take into consideration when life, property, and cleanup is unknown, along with first responders deployed everywhere, and unknown transportation issues to & from a game played anywhere. I'm sure the Gator fans wanted this game as much as LSU fans. Hopefully the game can be rescheduled, if not we need to move on.

Agree with OP. This is a forfeit, not a cancellation.

The worst part is there's plenty of precedent to look to for examples on how to handle this very scenario.

LSU came to play, Florida backed out. That's not a cancellation, that's a forfeit.
