Not the SEC. No executive in any level of any sport can admit the foot locker rejects/RUMPires/etc. are wrong. They are perfect in all they do and we must worship them.

It’s not valid because you can’t reasonably come to the conclusion that Jones touched the ball while out of bounds.
You don’t think it’s reasonable to think that he is touching the ball at this moment?

The bigger travesty that day was when it was revealed that the SEC, in 2009, didn’t have high def tvs in the replay booth.

No, it’s not reasonable. For one, Peterson already had the ball with his right foot down with zero bobble of the ball, so even if Jones is touching the ball in that pic, it doesn’t matter. Secondly, a split second before that right when the ball meets Petersons hands, Jones isn’t touching out of bounds…so if he is touching the ball, it doesn’t matter.

Has the league office ever come out publicly and admitted the refs messed up?
2004. LSU vs Alabama. Alabama was leading 10-6. Corey Webster intercepted a pass in the end zone after allegedly (probably) committing interference.
LSU went on to win 24-10.
The league reviewed and issued an apology to Alabama after the game.

Yeah I can’t remember them giving a clear explanation on why, I’m just giving you a reason as to why it might actually be incomplete according to the rulebook.
The SEC office stated it was not based on Jones touching the ball out of bounds.

If the Bama WR was at any point touching the football while his foot was out of bounds before Pat had full possession it would be an incomplete pass
My brother in Christ, I have watched a LOT of college football and I can never recall that call being made.

You are telling me players touch loose balls while they are out of bounds and they let they play go on? And you are telling me that it happens all the time?
I’m not exactly sure how you got that out of what I said. Very few of your words matched mine.
You (or someone) said it’s “illegal” to touch the ball while out of bounds. In football, “illegal” suggests or implies that it’s something that is penalized.
Touching the ball while out of bounds is not a penalty.
Does the play become dead? Yes. Is that illegal? No.

Do you think it’s legal for a player to be touching the ball while he is standing out of bounds?

This is an oddly phrased question. Players touch the ball while out of bounds all the time. Very rarely is it “illegal.”

Are you under the impression that being ruled “out of bounds” is illegal?

I think he’s gearing up for some sort of “gotcha” but I can’t see it.
In the ‘22 Bama game LSU caused a fumble and recovered the ball. Upon review, though, it was determined that a Bama player was out of bounds and he touched the ball before LSU gained possession, thus downing the ball. It was a big moment in the game, it didn’t go LSU’s way, and it was thoroughly explained by the referees.
At no point during any of that was any action by a player, in or out of bounds, considered illegal.

Some of you haven't been around long enough to realize that when it comes to football, the SEC will not defend LSU in public.
They will, however, bend over backwards for some of the other SEC schools.
For example, back in the early 2000's, the SEC basically made a public apology to Alabama for a questionable no call in a game against LSU in Tiger Stadium that LSU won.
The SEC clearly took the side of Florida in the hurricane game debacle - even though the arrogance of the University of Florida caused the entire controversy - making LSU and Alleva look like assholes.
Advice - never expect the SEC offices to do anything in favor of LSU football. LSU has been and will always be treated like a bastard step-child by the SEC.
Texas and Oklahoma will get a public apology from the SEC regarding officiating before LSU ever will.

Surprised the SEC didn't write back and say the LSU player is clearly targeting as the crown of his helmet is in the gut of the USC player.
