TX, FL and GA have a large number of blue-chip players in those states so that's not surprising.

This the portal affect.
I think this might get better for LSU when players start seeing the success of CLK.
I have to say I'm a little surprised it is that low. I wonder what it was in years past.
Granted there isn't the shear volume of 4-5 * in LA, but we need to make sure those guys are coming to LSU.

We don't have as many players in our state.
If you did % of top 10 players in each state that go to each school, I bet we're quite high, if not the highest.

This is the first time in decades, that the LSU roster is less than 50% of Louisiana kids.

Yeah wasn't Saban's love of LSU and Louisiana was that LA had more kids per capita in NFL than any other state?
Surprised LSU is this low on the list.

I .can, there are only so many in Louisiana...top quality yes, but limited.

Well, we had to literally overhaul the entire roster. I suspect in a few years, our in state number will be higher.

Just googled and asked AI, which state produced the most NFL players in the last fifty years. It answered California. When I asked the same question with adding per capita, it replied Georgia and then Louisiana. I’m not surprised. The interest in sports is far greater here. How many times have SEC baseball teams gone to regionals and play in front of two hundred people.

The question is does it NEED to be better?
Before the new rules re: transfers and NIL, roster were built through HS recruiting. Obviously, location plays a big role in that because it was more likely LSU could sign a HS kid from Washington, Louisiana than it was Washington DC, or Portland OR, or Altadena, CA, etc. LSU had a strong advantage because it was largely successful in signing the top LA talent.
Now, roster aren't built exclusively through stacking HS recruiting classes year after year. There is less "development" from freshman through upperclass. Guys are all just on 1 year contracts. Even the HS recruits. If you can sign a good 3rd year QB who happens to be from Oregon, or the best safety who is a senior from California, that's the better approach than limiting yourself to building from within (ask Clemson). Look no further than Indiana. They won the NC with very few starters from Indiana.
Yes, LSU should and will still sign the top HS players from Louisiana. But doing so is not as much of a necessity as it was 5-6 years ago. This is more and more "pro" football. There, the rosters are made up of players from all over the country.
