Ranters,

Even though, I know a lot of people seem are upset because it seems Bama gets a bye week, which feels like we are being punished since we have to play an extra game. However, I would like to think that this benefits LSU, for our players won't be sitting around for an additional week. I feel like they will still be fresh while Bama will have to knock some of the rust off. Although, I do wonder about injuries. Anyone else agree or disagree?

Your Thoughts?

Good practice against a solid 3 4 defense and a good running back

It's all fun and games until someone loses and eye...

LSU has gone virtually injury free all season long...the thought of having to go into yet ANOTHER Top 10 match-up, on the road, while the team that seems all but penciled in to the opposing slot in the NCG sits in the clubhouse drinking appletinis kind of pisses me off a bit.

Thanks for your posts! I too, feel a little irritated because just like the NFL, you would think that the #1 team would get the Bye type of week. However, just like the one poster said...the SEC Championship means a lot to our team and this isn't the NFL...for the playoff would determine who takes it all instead of the BCS.

Either way, I like LSU's chances in the Superdome...for many of our players who are from the great State of Louisiana are very familiar with the setting since they have played State Championships back in HS. Also, when LES has time to plan for any opponent, he has been money most of the time.

Freaking this. I don't get how us beating a team in our side of the division on the road and just the fact that they stayed at #2, they're awarded a trip to the BCS CG. This would be the same team that didn't win the SEC West or the SEC all together.

Let's say one of our playmakers breaks an arm in the SEC CG. Well that person won't be back. All of Alabama's will be there, they didn't play.

For a team losing on the road to get awarded a shot in the biggest of all games vs. a team that already beat them combined with the stuff I just said is freaking bullshite.

Bama had their shot.

Bama already has this "well we deserve that because we're Bama" sort of attitude. This would just add to that.

Think of it this way...if BAMA is awarded a second bite, that game on November 5th was MEANINGLESS.

Utterly meaningless.

Assuming, of course, that LSU had lost 9-6 in OT and had run the table the rest of the way as we did, LSU would likely be #2 and sitting in BAMA's chair. We'd be in the exact same situation, just reversed roles.

Screw that. I like college football, and I like that the regular season matters. If this goes forward, that great win means nothing...just another regular season game.

I know! That's what I've stated in other posts and some people just don't either get it or want to accept that.

Nice, the ole big ten argument.

I wonder if after we beat bama again the national media will try this excuse again.

once you getting to 5 vs 6 weeks of sitting around, you really are just splitting hairs. it all depends on how both teams approach the break.

So we do not benefit. We lose, we could very well be out of a bcs bowl. Like wise it could end up where lsu is playing in crap one bowl and you have a ucla in the rose bowl and a 4 loss big east team in the orange bowl. Oh and not to mention houston and michigan getting at large bids over us. Not because we didnt deserve it, but because three sec teams wont be in a bcs bowl.

We will benefit if we win, it will be one more trophy in the case for recruits to look at. That is the only thing it does for us.

I dont agree with this. Computers love big 12. The media really doesnt like us, i dont think their would be much talk about a rematch in the reversed roles. You think if bama wins, the AP will split the title? No fricking way, bama is the new USC, plain and simple.

I definitely agree with this statement. ESPN Experts, reports, broadcasters, etc don't even acknowledge the fact that we beat Bama fair and square in Tuscaloosa. Instead, they try to state that Bama beat themselves because of missed opportunities.

What they fail to realize is that we had missed opportunities to. We kept drives alive due to penalties, blown assignments on TR, and should have at least scored a touchdown between the endzone pass to RR or the Ford Run. I want to play Bama again, but this time will be in the Dome where we will be faster and more aggressive than ever. LSU by 2 touchdowns!

Wrong.
In fact, that WAS the talk going into the game in the event LSU lost.

Again.
it depends on the game, but several AP voters (perhaps a majority) are considering a split title in the event of an LSU loss. That, in and of itself, is surprising.
It's been widely discussed and it would be unprecedented.

E.g., It is what I always felt should have occurred after the 1984 Orange Bowl when Nebraska went for the win on a 2-point conversion instead of the tie at the end of the game. A tie would have given them a unanimous #1 ranking in the polls. The game was played at Miami. Nebraska's Heisman winner got hurt and couldn't finish the game. If ever there was an argument for keeping a team #1 after a final loss, that was it.

It did not happen.

Doubt it would happen this time either.
But it shows what respect the media has for this LSU team that remaining #1 after a loss would even be considered.

I think I'll be pissed if we suffer any serious injuries. I'd rather lose against UGA than lose a key starter. When a NC is in sight, I frankly don't care a lot about the SEC championship.

I agree. I just find it shocking that so many LSU fans do not agree. There was a time when the statement "if you cannot win your own division and your own conference you are not worthy to play in the NCG." That logic doesn't seem to hold up if bama is in. So many are drinking the kool-aid and calling other LSU fans scared etc, etc if they don't agree to this "rematch".

Although LSU did defeat Alabama 9-6 a few weeks ago in their house that is not good enough. It's meaningless. We must do so again - only this one counts.

I think most voters will see it this way.

It's beyond retarded to just give it to Bama.

Just repeating something that is wrong doesn't make it right.

Are our fans so jaded we don't give a shite about an SEC championship???
