LSU is a baseball school. It’s just the facts. We get lucky every 5-7 years in football. Men’s basketball just stinks and nobody watches it anyhow

The contract Scott gave Jimbo at A&M wasn't the issue, it was the renewal done by the next AD.
I know. But A&M was already regretting that extension by time Woodward was hiring BK. Should have been a cautionary tale

To be honest, BK was as safe a bet as any with his experience and track record.

It was a glamour hire, a lazy hire, and a stoopid hire all in one. And he topped it off with the stoopid contract for a man on his last coaching leg.

Woodward gave Jimbo and Kelly their contracts.

This is a very good point. I just believe that we cannot go down this road again and I’m worried that if we allow Scott Woodward to find the next coach, then it might be the same result.

Jay Johnson had been to the college World Series multiple times and Kim Mulkey had won the women’s basketball national championship already. It did not take much to figure out that these would be great hires.

What the hell? So the next AD EXTENDS a coach’s contract and it is the previous ADs fault? I’ll give you the O extension was t that smart but it still didn’t handcuff LSU like Fisher at TAMU. At least o had some leverage. Geez

Much like Saints fans, a lot of LSU fans just can't grasp that leaving Woody (Loomis) in place is why the rest of the brand (franchise) will continue to suck.

What 2? Baskball is usually a joke. Not because of Woodward.

Baseball & Track & Field independently generate almost as much as basketball.

Woodward has done a good job overall, winning multiple National Championships.

No, you’re missing my point.

I’m not blaming him for Jimbo’s extension. I’m blaming him for seeing aTm’s situation and still thinking that a 10 year nearly guaranteed deal for BK was a good idea. He had the benefit of seeing a rival’s mistake blow up in their face, but then he still went and made the same mistake

Obviously the contract is absurd now but that's what it took to get him. The pickings were pretty slim. To pull BK away from Notre Dame was quite the accomplishment. It hasn't worked out but if you swing big you're going to have big misses. Overall Woodward has had a lot of success but for most people football is the only thing that matters.

Maybe BK can pull this thing out of the ditch. Maybe he can draw on his decades of experience and figure out a way to run the football. The O line isn't very good but it wasn't great shakes last year either with NFL talent. I hate the way LSU runs out of the gun. Other teams do it and they make it look so easy. They use misdirection and window dressing, move the ball down the field, and then hit you with play action. LSU's offense looks like a kid playing a video game choosing plays at random.

Hmmm! I guess there is no hope. May as well plan something else to do on my Saturdays.
Just replay my 2019 games.

He needs to be held accountable

how is that handled?

He hired Mulkey, 1 championship already, our only one in WBB

He hired Jay Johnson- Already won 2 national titlels

He hired Kelly, the winningest coach in ND history

it isn't like he has been anything but a successful AD for LSU

the contract for Kelly was insane, we all knew that was a problem

Only a guy like Nick Saban should get that kind of a contract

Jimbo got a big contract to move from FSU to A$M but he had won a national title, that's a big deal...

Aren't many who have climbed that mountain and willing to move schools

so we have to be realistic

Wait , you can’t say “ it’s just the contract ! “
Woody’s job is to sign a coach to a contract that favors LSU … not throw money around !

TAMU had every opportunity to move on from Fisher but bought him that great roster and extended him instead. He isn’t extending Kelly. Your point is irrelevant because Kelly was hired and not extended. Not the same.

long term contracts to lure a whale are the norm...Riley got 10 years at USC...you don't pull a big time coach from a big time program unless you make it worth his while...
