2 baseball championships and a women’s bball championship, really hard to say he’s the problem.
Yes, but he destroyed the football program in the process. Not worth it. He ate the seed corn of the entire university.

To be honest, BK was as safe a bet as any with his experience and track record. It’s just the contract, but that’s what it takes to land those coaches.
I get it. It was high stakes and he lost. Now it's time to be accountable.

Thats exactly what I said
It’s a much less competitive market across the board in those sports

The football program is hardly destroyed. It's been a disappointing season, but it could be a lot worse.

He can hire a young guy with promise because the program is more stable than it was when Kelly got here.
Right. People can bitch & gripe about the on field performance until they are blue in the face but one they can't complain about is the structure, stability & accountability Kelly has implemented behind the scenes to the football program after left the program in shambles.

No, that's what Coach O did on his way out.

"It could be a lot worse."
A&M
Alabama
Oklahoma
"Its Hardly destroyed"
Who are we going to put on the field next season? If you were an investor, after witnessing the production by NIL recipients this season, would you continue to invest?

The LSU baseball hire is one of the easiest hires in college sports. NO ONE places more emphasis or puts more resources into its baseball program than LSU. Some may be close to that level (Arkansas, Tennessee, maybe Miss. St and Ole Miss), but none put more. If you are a CBB coach, LSU is a pinnacle job that good coaches beg to get.
Football and men's basketball are different animals. Like you said, it's a much more competitive marketplace. Not every coach is begging for the LSU job, and there are other programs who put more, some much more (basketball) into the program than LSU. It takes more than simply pulling up the guy's wikipedia page to identify who may be the right hire.
Woodward joined the LSU AD when Saban was the HC. When Saban was hired his college resume was not outstanding. He was .500 coach at Michigan St (including a blowout loss to the guy LSU just fired) until his final season. I remember many being upset he was (1) the hire and (2) that LSU agreed to pay him so much ($1M annually). But took someone (Emmert) seeing the traits beyond the record that could potentially make him a good HC. That was the same with Wade. He was a solid HC at Chattanooga and VCU, but not tremendous. But if you met with him you quickly got the sense of the drive and determination to be great with a concrete and unwavering plan (not just banal platitudes) of how to get there.
Sometimes simply hiring the resume works (Mulkey). But in a competitive marketplace you have to go beyond that...even if the fans/donors don't immediately see what you see.

O drove the program into a ditch. Woodward's decisions to this point have ensured we'll be there for a decade.

NIL, Portal, and long-term expensive contracts are currently incompatible. Few coaches seem to understand the new model of CFB and unfortunately BK is not one of them. Yet Woodward saddled LSU with a 10 year contract with this guy. Not sure how long you've watched LSU, but I'm not particularly fond of the Archer to DiNardo era. I get the sense we are heading back towards that territory.

Hiring JJ was good, hiring Kim at her price for a sport no one cares about is meh.
The hiring of BK was like hiring a less successful Jimbo
His handling of LSU basketball has been down right criminal from how he fired Wade and let the team find out. Hiring a clown, making excuses and bringing said clown back despite all evidence pointing to failure.
Also let’s not forget his job is to raise funds as well and he should have had us ready for the nil world. Fat Scott spent money on stupid ads in Times Square saying NILSU all while we have a bullshite bayou traditions that wasn’t even established then. Then after years of failure and being behind he tries to put into gear. We also have basketball NIL which he mismanaged and it doesn’t exist, partly because of his stupid hire.
So we have two failed coaching hires and outside of baseball our nil was caught with no plan.
Scott thought we should build NIL by letter of law while everyone else saw reality.
Scott is also the last AD that is scared of the ncaa.
It’s time for one of Scotty to go

The cheapest women's ticket on stubhub is 9 bucks. The cheapest mens ticket is 5.90. All the women's games are 95% sold out already. The men not so much.

We played a bowl game with a WR at QB. No matter what happens Saturday this program is light-years ahead of where it was when Kelly got here.

I've hated Kelly since before he got here and didn't want him. But if you look at it through the eyes of Woodward, I can't say it was a horrible idea.
It was a great idea at the time
But on Tigerdroppings, logic goes out the window when the idiots are out for blood like they are
Fire everyone, frick it
See how that works

She may pack the center, but women's basketball still loses money! So does baseball. The only sports that turn a profit are football and men's basketball.

The use of the word "destroyed" is not appropriate.
BUT, given the overall record, the performance this year with a bunch of expensive talent, the remaining schedule...and the trajectory of the program next year, the outlook is consistent with a mid level SEC football program, at best. .It will take YEARS, a very good AD and coaching staff and a lot of money (which we may not have) to correct that trajectory.
Look at what talent we return next year.
At a minimum, we will have a new set of coaches on offense.
Our ability to compensate in the portal will depend on the generosity of donors who just saw a bunch of expensive talent squandered...
