That's what I'm wondering, is that something that he and O addressed and agreed didn't need to happen but to just manage what was implemented last year.

The wailing and moaning is a bit much even for this board. It’s fascinating.

Here are the highlights from Linehan at Dallas.
1. Simplified the offense to the point that each receiver only ran 2-3 routes and the defense knew pre-snap exactly that was run. The is a quote from Des, Terrence Williams, Beasley, etc.
2. He refused to scheme against teams. Instead he said 'here is what we do well this is what we are doing where the other team knows it or not.'
3. He has personality issues that Dallas radio mentioned numerous times. He would get rid of any coach under him that did not think exactly like him. By the end of his time in Dallas, the offensive staff was a bunch of yes mean.
4. He would freak out at Romo and Dak when they would change the plays. It seemed like he really could not handle being wrong or someone else being right.
I am being honest when I say this, he shouldn't have been hired on as an analyst here let alone the to a coaching position. I will trust O that he has a plan, but damn this is a gut punch.
Agree. I kind of want Linehan and Russ Callaway to switch spots.

So 4 different NFL teams hired him to be their OC...why?
He interviews well?

He's a PGC. Give him a break. He won't be moving Coach E out of his office. He's there to help.
2 years $800k per year
That’s as much as E & almost double what Brady made last year
That’s been the plan all along. PCG here was going to be your defacto OC because that is the precedent set with Brady, & the money backs that up.

It’s your story...tell it like you want.

Shh, reality makes them cry.

Offense is installed, people. We dont need someone to reinvent the wheel.
True, very true!
But there is a flip side to that coin also!
We already have what is the most prolific offense in school, SEC and most of the country history. We don’t want anyone to screw it up either!

This just reeks of Les Miles...but Ed has earned the opportunity for me to give him the benefit of the doubt, so I will.

Joe Burrow ain’t walking through those doors. Sean Payton himself could come in and be OC and the offense would take a step back

E will be retiring soon too so they're looking for his eventual replacement. This is a terrible hire. Anyone in here can take crazy pills and try to spin it all they want this guy fricking sucked in the NFL.
He's getting the job here because nobody else wanted him. I get that you need chemistry with your guys but jesus this just screams good ole boys lets roll keep the coaching network going.
Nobody tell me to trust O. He had Sullivan as PGC and made hires like Canada. This guy doesn't even scheme well and partly what made LSU's offense so good last year is they schemed the weakness of every team they played. This is a step back with another dinosaur.

The reality is he’s done nothing here to melt over, yet here we are. Y’all need some Xanax or something

The cliff jumping sissies and nega everything on this board are in full shite your pants mode. We have a system in place, E is our coordinator, and Linehan brings in high level insights into the staff. He has also been coaching NFL QBs for a long time. I trust that O and E and Woody betting this closely and found a man to enhance our staff.

Did you not see Dak regress under Scott??

but to say you had all of this interest in the job and you come away with Linehan just seems odd. Doesn't even really seem to jive with what you built last year on offense either
Exactly
O says we need to go the spread, bring in Brady, LSU sets records.
All indications are that O is looking to make a similar hire but instead hires a guy who has been passed up by the nfl game. What does he bring to the table? Hell I would have been more happy with a bag man than can’t coach a lick. At least we know what he brings.

What an ignorant and intellectually dishonest comparison.
Larry Coker inherited what many people believe is the best team in college football history, won a national title in his first year and then ran the program in the ground.
Orgeron took over a team in turmoil and built a national championship program. There is no comparison.
No, he inherited a good team, and then won a title on what was considered by some to be the greatest team in college football history, as opposed to taking over a team who was already thought to be the greatest ever. Orgeron took over a talented team, whose head coach refused to change the offense. He made a good hire in Brady, and his QB just had a season we'll likely never see again.
And THAT makes him a genius? The whole point I was making is that one championship does not mean that everything you touch turns to gold. Les Miles didn't immediately win a championship after taking over, either. But how many great hires did he make?
What about Jimbo and his one year wonder? If you want to be here all day, we can do this all day. The point remains the same.
And I'm not calling LSU a one year wonder. But I'm unbiased enough to realize that this past year isn't going carry forward into future seasons, simply on the basis of some magic aura. I've seen too many instances of programs rising and falling with the Sun, to sit here and think that Orgeron is infallible.

How the hell can any man feel "gut punched" by the hiring of a passing game analyst by a HC who just had the best season in school history lol.

Another straw man. I’ve never seen a group work so hard to dodge the actual subject matter. You guys should be running for office.
