No body was stopping LSU this season. The point is, one of the best DCs in the country and a 4-3 guy, felt a 3 man front was the most effective way to stop the best offense in the country.

Also, for most of the game it was a 3-2-6 with Simmons and Skalski at LB. They also had a S that was playing a Jacoby Steven style hybrid role at times, making it close to a 3-3-5 stack.

We also have Jacoby Stevens on the back end next year to play the perfect hybrid in a 4-2-5.

Who are your DEs in this 4-3? You can’t go to a 4-3 anytime soon. Don’t have the players.

It does probably mean K’Lavon May leave if he thinks the scheme change is bad for him.

K’Lavon would have double digit sack numbers in a 4-3 scheme though

Lol what? Less simulated pressures equals more sacks?

Plus we’ve been recruiting to a 3 man front with a standup backer. O will want same scheme.

this, I cant imagine we change it up. We are stacked with recruits to run the 3 man fronts

Huh? It would be a terrible use of him.

After Ole Miss we went more 4-3 with Chaisson standing.

Good. No more rush 3 and drop 8.....and the other team make every third and long.

He's gone already. He just hasn't announced it yet. Moreover, he won't know what the scheme will be before Monday, in any event.

Just a lot of old school folks posting about this that don't understand the 3-4. With how offenses are evolving, the 3-4 is a much better option.

You do realize that the 34 has been around for decades, don’t you? It has nothing to do with being old or old-school.

This. Remember when we were having trouble turning 4-3 DTs into 3-4 NTs and (lesser extent) DEs? We would have the same problem turning 350 lb. 3-4 NTs into 4-3 DTs. Perhaps the greater concern is turning 3-4 DEs or OLBs into 4-3 DEs.

It takes different personnel and it’s a completely different style of play from what our guys have been taught all this time under Aranda. I also don’t think we have enough experienced DL depth to just up and switch to a 4-3. I will say that a lot of the freshmen we have coming in could very well play in a 4-3 defense. But how many freshmen do you want in your DL rotation?

3-4 is built to stop the spread offense. We may go to more simulated 4-man fronts but I would be surprised if we went straight to a base 4-3 in one year.

Whatever the most successful college football defenses are running, that's the scheme LSU should run.

Nah, weve been trying to recruit for a 3-4 since 2015.

People didnt like Steele, but hes done well at auburn. He came and we changed schemes without the rt personnel.

I was basing it upon the fact that traditionally, LSU has been a 4-3 team, at least as long as I've been alive. Though, I don't really know what you'd call Tepper's drop linebacker thingy.

Uh No as there was no standing Lb on the opposite side. I guess you never watched our D when Mingo was here?

If you don’t have 4 down linemen you’re not in a 4-3

4-3 isn’t really a thing anymore

5 & 6 DBs on the field at a time is much more common

No sense in fighting over what to call it.
