So things are different how...?
Things are different in that we don't have cluster moments not getting the plays down to the offense from the box, time mismanagement issues, players doing the Meer cat prior to snapping the ball etc...
Come on man...read!
Those meer cat teams had way more potential than this team. They were deeper on both sides of the line, older, and loaded with more NFL talent. They underachieved due to being handcuffed by an incompetent OC. We should have competed for more championships, yet failed miserably due to things that occurred off the field by coaches who couldn't tell time and get the plays to the players in time to get them lined up correctly. Ole Miss and Tennessee games come to mind. We were fortunate to win the Tennessee game because our center snapped the ball even though JJ wasn't even set yet which caught the Tennessee players doing something worse than us for a change. We won some games in spite of the coaches.

and another thing. It's nice not imploding in November as the trend started happening more frequently during the Miles era.

Imploding in September is definitely different ...

We still had 3 timeouts remaining with 2 minutes left before half in the Auburn game, which gave us time to score. Guarantee Les/Cam/Chavis woulda burned at least 2 of those. Little things like that matter.

Dude. The SEC is a shell of what it once was. I’m not a Miles fan but a little perspective is needed here. O did do one thing Miles didn’t do....he had us implode in September! That was new! 3 losses is 3 losses. We’re still irrelevant in the college football world. Is O the one to reverse that? I have serious doubts.

quote:my word this isn't rocket science. new head coach. new o co. confluence of departures/injuries on the o line. despite all this lsu can potentially win 10 games. we've currently won 5 of our last 6. i am not saying that's great but, dad gum those are encouraging signs. lsu actually has a different game plan each week tailored to the opponent and makes adjustments at half time. that was not a hallmark of miles coached teams. miles was wrecking ball and then more wrecking ball. people are making this WAY more difficult than it actually is.
So things are different how...?

Improvement is know defined at LSU by beating one team with a winning record and losing a home OOC game

quote:AGAIN, new coaches. o line problems. guice injured. i can't understand why people are not acknowledging this. it's actually real, actually matters and actually affects the games. the games are not played in computers. they're played with real people in real life.
he had us implode in September!
quote:this is so stupid. what does this even mean? there's no objective way to define "relevant." it's just dumb message board talk
We’re still irrelevant in the college football world.

Ok. Here it is.....the SEC is waaaay down. This improvement as the season goes on is a) not totally realistic due to this. They’re firing coaches left and right. Very few teams can even be called good. b) this “improvement” came on the heels of some of the worst performances by LSU teams in years. And we are to applaud this? So in the future, suck early then everything else looks good in comparison?

As you noted, a lot of teams are getting worse. LSU, after Troy, could easily have become one of those teams. It did not.
Do you think for one minute that LSU would have won the games it did after Auburn last year if Miles was still the coach? Hell no. That team was healthy but poorly coached.
LSU in September was missing four starters from both lines. Many of their backups we're freshmen seeing their first game action.
Some of them are still playing and playing well.
That's good coaching.

Yes, including Florida.

For the billionth time, coaching did not lose the Florida game.
LSU beat the Gators up and down the field.
Two fumbles created a 10-point swing on the scoreboard. Those fumbles were simple mistakes made by players. The game plan was sound on both sides of the ball, but literally three mistakes cost LSU the game.

quote:lsu plays in the toughest division of the toughest conference (and yes the sec STILL has the best ooc record). the tigers have a respectable sos around 30 according to a couple of services, with a chance to go up against a decent a&m team and bowl game.
the SEC is waaaay down
you can use subjective terms like "down" but in reality, it doesn't really mean anything.
quote:objectively false
not totally realistic due to this
quote:no one is denying that. some people are trying to point out the trend and the tigers are trending up. other people don't want to give the staff credit for that but are hanging on to a loss half a season ago.

Ok. For the billionth time, the teams we beat had shitty run defenses, which LSU was built to exploit. So, Miles would have beaten those teams too (including Florida).
