Me and two alum got tickets in centerfield a few rows up and wore mostly gold because the Rockies had purple. It took a couple of innings of yelling in between piped in music before he noticed us. Then he would come out and nod his cap and wave. He crushed a single that led to two errors and him damn near scoring in the 6th or 7th. All in all great time.

This is an actual pretty cool story, but you can’t crush a single.

Unless it hit the wall so hard that it rebounded on one bounce back to 2nd base!!

Isn’t it fun to go see our guys playing the bigs? I’m going to make a point of doing it more often.

Agreed, that would constitute a crushed single.

Of course you can. An exit velocity of 105 mph is crushed. If it’s a grounder straight to an outfielder, it’s a single.

That’s called a hard hit ground ball. There’s nothing wrong with that. A ball that’s crushed is over the fence or at the very least a wall ball.

Straight from Wikipedia my guy.

“crush the ball”

A batter who hits a ball extremely hard and far might be said to crush the ball, as if he had destroyed the baseball or at least changed its shape. Related expressions are crunched the ball or mashed the ball. Indeed, a slugger is sometimes described as a masher. Illustration: "Though the 25-year-old has impressed with two homers in five games, he's more of a pure hitter than a masher."
Other types of baseball destruction include knocking the stuffing out of the ball and knocking the horsehide [cover] off the ball.

I have been an Astros fan since I was 9. Having Bregman play for them and win championships is one of my favorite sports experiences ever.

Impressive hard hit rollover that turned into a single.

It’s still not a crushed baseball. You and I both know that. Crushed has to encompass velocity, distance and extra bases.
