Saturday men’s basketball in the SEC

Obviously, we want LSU to defeat winless Missouri on Saturday night at 7:30p. If so, LSU would finish 9-9 in the conference.
However there are two more games to keep an eye on for us. We need Ole Miss to beat the aggys in Oxford at 1pm, and USCe to defeat MSU in Starkville at 1:30p.
If LSU, Ole Miss & S Carolina all win, LSU will finish 7th in the league, which is nothing short of amazing, based on a complete rebuild starting last year.
Geaux (LSU) Tigers, Black Bears & Gamecocks this weekend.

Slightly easier path on our way to SECT championship glory, baby.

Probably better if aggy wins multiple games. We want them to make the tourney. Along with state

I don't really have a good feel for any of those three games, but...
My best guess is...
Texas A&M beats Ole Miss on the road
S. Carolina beats Miss St
Missouri upsets LSU
The "pecking order" thus becomes,
Texas A&M--7
Miss St--8
LSU--9
Ole Miss--10

I think State is close to a lock. they're a 9 seed on bracket matrix and in Lunardi's rankings. A home loss to south carolina wouldn't be a bad loss, and they'll probably play a decent team round one of the tourney so even if they lose it wouldn't hurt THAT badly

Yeah. You are probably right.

fricking kill me if we give them their only win in conference play

I wouldn’t ever say finishing 7th is “amazing”. But it would be great for McMahon to sell potential transfers on the future of LSU by saying they finished in the top 1/2 of one of the toughest conferences in the country. That’s positive momentum the program can hopefully build upon

Nothing would be amazing about it, at all, not even a little bit

We are pulling for the aggies to beat ole miss. We need to jump ole miss in the NET to make the NIT

Would be the most typical LSU basketball shite ever but I’ll still die a little inside

bullshite. I want to make the NCAA tournament, and I want the easiest path in the SEC tournament to try and get there.
The only team that is close to unbeatable is Tennessee, so I'd like to avoid them as long as possible in Nashville in hopes they get knocked off before we have to deal with them.
Remember that Georgia came out of nowhere a while back to win the SEC auto bid when they had no chance at an at large bid.

Well, all we need is a tornado to hit Bridgestone arena during a game and force the rest of the tournament to be played in Belmont's gym...with 200 fans.

I mean, if it ends with LSU winning the SECT, I’m willing to sacrifice some things.

I didn't include this example because of the spring chickens on the board, but back in 1983 without a tornado, NC State did the same thing and went on to win the national championship. They weren't getting in without the ACC tournament championship that year either.

Probably not. But that was a good team that underachieved for most of the year in part due to an injury to a key player, Derrick Whittenburg. I'm not sure this LSU team was ever "good" this season.
Look, I'm hoping like hell LSU can make a similar run. But a tornado knocking down the host venue probably seems like a more likely scenario for LSU winning the championship
