been worried about the mizzou game for a while now. LSU has a tendency to lay eggs in games like that. feel like mizzou is gonna come out like it's their superbowl, and we need to play with a similar intensity to win.

also i think it's funny now how we're now discussing the possibility of leaping ole miss in the net... i remember when i was called an idiot for saying they were overrated.. but yet the season plays out and look what happens. if we played as easy of an ooc schedule as they did we'd have 20 wins too. and hopefully we'd beat detroit mercy by more than 1 point.

Ole Miss really has a thinner resume than LSU. They have two good (not great) wins, vs Florida and Miss St (both at home). LSU has Quad 1 wins vs Wake (neutral), @ A&M, @ USC, vs KY. That's quite impressive, plus they beat the Rebels head to head

I will admit our record is shite.. but we had some tough OOC games. I had a lengthy post discussing the NET, EvanMiya, and Kenpom rankings of our opponents vs Ole Miss when I was arguing about it a while back...

People just chest thump over Chris Beard and Ole Miss bc they hate McMahon. Can't be objective and look at our schedules and come to the realization that team was a bit overhyped going into SEC play.. and it's shown in their record.

I really, really wish we had easier OOC scheduling. McMahon needs to hire whoever Wade outsourced his scheduling to to help us with our NET ranking. There was little chance we were recovering from 8-5 going into conference play unless we finished near the top 1/3 of the league. Which honestly MAY have been possible considering how many close games we lost. And we also lost a lot of close games OOC too.. Man this season was rough.

You're right about that Wolfpack team. I would compare them to the 86 LSU final four team. We were way better than our seeding, but that was the chicken pox year, and we lost a lot of games we wouldn't have if healthy.

But the OOC schedule wasn't insurmountable. LSU should have beaten Dayton (shown as high as a 4 seed); they just choked late after amassing a 15 pt. lead midway in the 2nd half. Also teams like Syracuse, Texas, and K. State aren't powerhouses; it's possible none of them will make the Dance. And losing to Nicholls was inexcusable.

LSU has played much, much better since conference play began, and generally has looked like a cohesive unit.
