re: Sampson to Portal

Our WR corps this year was below average and yet Kelly didn’t even have the guts to play any of the freshman receivers who are arguably more talented than the first stringers.
We’ve already lost several of our main receivers to the portal and will be going into next year thin at the WR position. Kelly better knock it out of the park in the transfer portal.

or does he have to step down from P4
Would make sense.
Seems like things never clicked for him. Felt like every play he was in this year was a bad route, missed block, or penalty.

Why not stay and try to be a better receiver? Is he lacking confidence or is he lacking talent?
Wish him luck, anyway!

This is why I don’t ever worry about when some recruit goes elsewhere. Sampson looked like an all world WR in high school and somehow it just never translated to college. Best of luck to him.

He simply just couldn't get on the field here.
For some reason he could not get separation to get open. He got in games early in the season and in the latter half hardly saw the field.

Even before he signed with LSU I remember speaking with some people that knew him well when he was at Catholic. All said he was a tremendous athlete, but the drive/motor was inconsistent...at very best. When engaged, he was dominant vs. HS competition. But he could just as easily shut it off and allow far lesser athletes compete with him.
He ain’t got that dog in him
I want my receivers with that Jarvis Landry dog

The WR corps was definitely nowhere close to below average. It was a very solid, veteran group of guys. Just didnt have an elite guy at all.
Parker played a decent bit before he got hurt. Green got a handful of snaps at WR this season. They are not against playing younger guys at all.
Watkins is like 160-165 pounds soaking wet and not ready to play. Billiot will be decent just give it time. A true freshman is not a "Save the day" player every time. Most of them are not ready to play that early. It's not like any of the true freshmen were big time recruits or something outside of Green who spent the first half of the season at TE.

You should have quit posting after your 1st post. I'm sure it was just as asinine as your others here. LSU WRer corps was ABOVE average. And LSU played Parker a RS FR until he got hurt. Who are the "several main receivers to the portal?" MAYBE Daniels but I say he returns. Sampson is NOT a main receiver. He is a picture on a milk carton. You are nothing more than a troublemaking little PRICK who just started posting here to prove what a FOOL you are! Go frick yourself!

Sucks but sometimes those 5 stars don’t pan out.
I think Meadows the five star that just picked Bama over LSU yesterday is a clone of Sampson.
Their body type screams five start but like Sampson I think Meadows will have trouble getting separation from SEC DBs.
Sampson's blocking was improving but he was just not a regular target. He could rarely get open.
Sampson transferring to lower competition will likely benefit him next season.

MEadows is nowhere close to a 5-star. He is outside the Top 250 on on3, 247 still has him really high but they will do a post season update and probably bump him down significantly.
He had 39 catches the last 2 years of high school ball (25 games), basically no production to show for that kind of lofty original ranking he had. It would be a total joke if 247 kept him in the top 50.

Sampson had every opportunity to succeed here. He needs to head to a G5 program with a pass-heavy offense and then maybe go back to the after getting on track.

Remember Sampson and Jalen Brown were the next great receivers at LSU. 5 Star can't miss recruits.
Brown had 8 catches this year for Florida State. Sampson none for us

Wasn't impressed.
Probably had a nice nil deal too.
Can spend his money elsewhere.

Meadows looks much more athletic imo.
Sampson looked like the type that smoked weed and didn't give his all. Very disappointing

Meadows is a much better prospect than Sampson

I was really disappointed since Sampson was rated so high.
I believe a change of scenery and a fresh start somewhere else would be the best thing for him.
