I can't knock on this dude

He's a football player who wants to play football

Being the starting quarterback of the Texas Longhorns on a Saturday night in Death Valley is college football personified. I feel bad he doesn't get a chance to do it, even if I think LSU would win.

That’s a man that wants to play. Would rather our QB be brought to tears over a huge game being cancelled than liking tweets saying that it should be cancelled

What would hurt worse for UT:

-Coming to BR and loosing again

-Not getting a shot at LSU and loosing their only game at home against LSU

frick It! Just reschedule the game for next year. Drop one of the outside conference teams. Look what happened this year.

Asked if he cried when the LSU game got canceled, Texas QB Sam Ehlinger said flatly, “Yes.”

His hot mommie will make him a cup of cocoa and that'll cheer him up.

Hey, I was disappointed when that game was cancelled, too. Damn you all to hell, President Xi.

Who have we hosted in Death Valley over the last 10 years other than West Virginia and Washington?
Syracuse. Doesn’t change your point, just answering your question.

UT was our most competitive game last year.
Yep. It really is the only game where I felt like man we actually might lose this game

After watching all the games again over the quarantine, LSU defense had not hit their stride yet in that game. If these teams had played just three games later, it would have been a much different outcome.

I'm not bashing the kid. He's a competitor and no doubt wanted to come over and play in TS. That would have been an experience he'd never forget, no matter the outcome- which would have likely been a UT loss.

We were all looking forward to it happening. Sorry to see it play out this way...

I’m usually a pretty chill dude but I can honestly say if he ever walked into my local watering hole I’d have 2 shots of whiskey and then haul off and whip his arse like the grown man that I am. His little “we’re backkkkk” in the sugar bowl against Georgia just rubbed me the wrong way. And I don’t give a damn about Georgia. What a chode...

I feel like most people in the Austin/UT community think really highly of Ehlinger. He's probably been the best ambassador of the program since Colt McCoy. It's tough to argue that he's anything better than a B+ quarterback but it has been a while since UT has had figurehead player that wasn't a general embarrassment.

This is the correct take. Ehlinger is a classic college football player. I don't think anyone (even Ehlinger) is going to say that he's got a huge NFL career in front of him. This is a guy who came back for another year simply to play more college football for UT. For anyone like him who grew up in Central Texas, a home-and-home with LSU is literally the dream. Although the teams hardly ever play, people kinda forget that anything East of Austin is immediately a mesh of UT and LSU fans, creating a rivalry that rarely has an opportunity to get on the field. Having one of those classic games taken away sucks.

I bet he did. You know he came back to get revenge. Was going to be a damn good game too, just not for him.
